A tree fell on my pool pump cracking the slab it was on in half and my perfect plumbing job in bits.

Almost 3 days with no power and stores have been closed. Been listening to other people's generators all day and night but otherwise. A 3rd tree in my yard is beginning to fall on my neighbors house and another section of new fence. the soonest the tree company can come is 11 today because I don't want to touch it.

Well, I'm glad you're okay. Three days without power is no picnic. Any longer than that and you're awfully close to the apocalypse! I was without power for three days a few years ago when we had a freak ice storm in November, but luckily my parents live three miles away so I honestly didn't suffer other than the inconvenience. But if people start to run out of water and all their food is going bad, all bets are off... Ever since the pandemic hit in Spring 2020 I've been less afraid of the natural disaster than I am of the panicky human reaction.

Now that the neighborhood knows me, from all this good samaritan crap over the past few days, they all like me too much... RUN!!!

Still dealing with hard drive problems. They are attempting to retrieve data that I forgot to double back up so it might be weeks and weeks. It's current up to past two years so it's a lot of work. Hopefully, they can pull some of it out.

Hard drives are completely dead. The power surge wiped. So "Gene Weigel Games" is literally in salvage mode. So that PDF Broken Castle is a lot of finalized work gone. It felt like a punch in the gut hearing it but time to start over.

Well, that sucks. Are you sure you don't have anything saved in the Cloud somewhere?

It says that there is a version of the short story but it won't open.

There are some other weak AD&D stuff that I put together for rules replies on Knights and Knaves Alehouse forum and the next blog post that I was working on but everything else is fried.

Come to think of it, I have far too much stored on my desktop in my office, and it's no longer a new computer... I bought it in fall of 2017. I better back some stuff up! Especially all of my travel pictures. A lot went directly from phone to hard drive. In addition, there is gaming stuff, fiction and art stored there going back decades... I haven't scanned everything since a lot is in physical notebooks still, but they could go too -- such as in a house fire.

It was a big blowout like I never seen before. I should have just unplugged everything but I was so busy running around taking care of everything that I forgot that I left the computer on.
