I posted on Garycon group that having open game on Friday and asking if it's better to wait and see. I think there is a lag for posts because it just swallowed it.

I signed up for the Gary Documentary screening on Thursday night at 20 hours (8pm?) and unless somebody points me to something else.

Friday would be great. If you want to run a game Friday, I'll keep Friday open.
Here's what I got so far:
1255 Sunken City by Rob Kuntz, 9 AM Thursday, 3 hours (Paul Stormberg) 549 JASMINE: Battle for the Mid-Realm Collector Card Game, 2 PM Thursday, 2 hours (Darlene) 1264 Ookland, 10 AM Saturday, 2 hours (Tom Wham)
I was hoping to get into Heidi Gygax's Dead Man's Chest game but it filled up. So did most of Harold Johnson's Tamoachan games. I might register for Dave Weseley's Braunstein game on Sunday purely for the historical value of early RPG development (Braunstein > Blackmoor > OD&D).
I'm looking at registering in one of Ernie's games too -- probably the one on Saturday for Hobby Shop Dungeon. Edit: I just registered for this one.
I'm still trying to decide if I should bring my own dungeon as well. I have a miniatures set up that could be fun.

I don't think that I'm ever going to be on the same page with Stormberg even though I'm always open but the Rob thing does seem interesting.

Silver registration went surprisingly smoothly compared to the fiasco two years ago! The only stretch that I tried for, which I got, was the last seat in Stormberg's Fire Opal (DMG Sample Dungeon) game on Thursday night. I'm also signed up for a linked pair of OD&D games (Judges Guild scenarios) on Thur/Sat morning; Bill Hoyt's unpublished Tekumel version of Dungeon!; Don't Give Up the Ship with Mike Carr; the Legends of Wargaming tournament on Friday night, and a screening of Pat Kilbane's forthcoming Gygax Documentary. Plus I'm running two Holmes/OD&D games ( link).

I'm glad you got into the Fire Opal game, Zach! It looks like your Holmes games are filled up already. They look very cool.

I don't know what day I'm going with Ernie to his house as he hasn't got back to me. He calls his house "The Dragon Lands". That is just a wait and see. I'll be checking out Black Blade publishing booth at some point and maybe hang out if that is alright. I just saw there is some kind of wedding on Thursday in the "lobby bar" by Luke Gygax as pastor it seems. (You got me. I am not a fan of weddings but that sounds bizarre.) The only thing that I'm worried about is food because, as far as playing, I've heard you can just walk in if you see something empty or looking for players. I really need to eat or I get severe gout.

The mansion EGG bought in Clinton in 1979 was called "Dragonlands." Did Ernie buy it, or did he just name his current house in memory of his old home?
As far as food goes, there will be plenty of it available in the Grand Geneva, just no table service... And there's a Piggly Wiggly supermarket close by as well.

I didn't register for anything, was AFK at the time, and all of the cool GH events were full that I had time for.
So I'll be looking to do some off-grid gaming on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.
I may be able to sneak away from the booth on Thursday to help with the Greyhawk Fans Seminar, but haven't talked to Jon about that yet.
Allan.

I guess I have to sign up for more at some point like a GREYHAWK thing. I'm working on the adventure for the con as I go.

I've been reconstructing my first adventure as DM. So I'm most likely going to run that at one point just for the hell of it. Its low level of course so maybe I might have two sessions that and a medium to high level game because I don't want to be limited. So no stress.

Allan -- I'm free Thursday evening and Sunday evening for any open gaming you might want to do.
The more I think about it, the more I like leaving open some blocks of time to see what develops.
I have a box of dungeon terrain and miniatures I was thinking of bringing... Maybe for a one-shot World of Greyhawk adventure using some of my own artwork with pre-gens to honor EGG? It should be mid to high level like the tournament modules of the elder days.

Demos S. (Paleologos at DF), who usually runs 1970's Judges Guild OD&D tournaments at Gary Con, has two sessions this year that that could each use more players (I've played in his games before and am signed up for both this time). They are on Thursday and Saturday, 10-2 for each. The scenarios are linked but you don't need to play in both. Tower of Ullison: tabletop.events/conventions/gary-con-xiv/schedule/705Sword of Hope: tabletop.events/conventions/gary-con-xiv/schedule/711"The first [and second] round of the D&D tournament for Winter War IV held at the University of Illinois, Urbana, in 1977." These were later published as the Judges Guild modules of the same names.

Allan -- I'm free Thursday evening and Sunday evening for any open gaming you might want to do. Thanks, Gary. I'll give some thought to bringing a few of my Castle levels and/or other fun things to run. My cell is still 408-655-3095 and email is grodog@gmail.com to coordinate among us. We do normally shut the con down on Sunday night with a late night game with our regular crew, and I'm sure you're all welcome to join us as you're able. The more I think about it, the more I like leaving open some blocks of time to see what develops. Yeah, I've done that on and off a few times, and it generally works out. I have a box of dungeon terrain and miniatures I was thinking of bringing... Maybe for a one-shot World of Greyhawk adventure using some of my own artwork with pre-gens to honor EGG? It should be mid to high level like the tournament modules of the elder days. Sounds wonderful! I may also bring Aliens, which is fun for a quick pickup game (although I won't be able to bring all of the minis and the big boards, probably... hmm...). Allan.

As of right now, it looks like the weather in Lake Geneva is going to be in the 40's and 50's and partly cloudy. Not that it matters much since we'll be inside, but I'm looking forward to doing some outside grilling and walking around town a bit. I like to walk at least a few miles every day anyway, so I might as well plan out some walking tours for myself. There is the old Gygax homestead of 330 Centre Street, the Horticultural Hall, original site of the Dungeon Hobby Shop downtown, location of the Oakwood Sanitarium (I don't think there is anything to see there anymore as it is now an apartment complex), Elm Park, EGG's last home on Madison Street, EGG's childhood home next to Bucknall's, Don Kaye's home, and the Dungeon Hobby Shop Museum, former site of TSR headquarters. Should anything else be on the walking tour?

When I was first there in 2017, I drove around a bit using the blue endpaper map by Steve Sullivan (former TSR artist) in the Empire of Imagination book. One under-appreciated location that I stumbled on was the town library, which is in a beautiful spot right on the lake. I imagine Gary must have frequented it throughout his life, being just a few blocks from his various homes in town, and I know Tom Wham worked there for many years. I believe it's just a few blocks down from Gary's last home. Here's a quote I just found from Gary that mentions the library vis-a-vis early D&D: www.enworld.org/threads/q-a-with-gary-gygax.22566/page-265Also: www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=193723#p193723And Mike Mornard on ODD74: odd74.proboards.com/post/217071/threadI wonder how elements in Chainmail/OD&D are the way they are because they were in a book that happened to be in the Lake Geneva Public Library? * * * * * My second time there I got a fair amount of exercise just walking around the Grand, because they started using the Forum location which is a bit of a hike from the main area, and I had a number of games down there. I think I heard the dealer hall is in the Forum this year.
