Being anti-vaccine is political, and I have to ask why. If it was just "the science is bad" then I'd expect that to affect all sides of the political spectrum. When I was young, anti-vaxxers were the fringe, like the Christian Scientists who wouldn't let their kids get medical treatment because they'd rather solve it with prayer. But all kids had to get vaccines to go to school, and it wasn't a big deal. Vaccines were seen as great, they got rid of measles, mumps and polio! Now, it is like 20% of the population has become anti-vaccine... What happened? There seems to be a high correlation with being anti-vaccine and the Republican base and white Evangelicals, but why? Even Trump got booed when he said he got the vaccine and credited it with saving a lot of lives. www.cnbc.com/2021/12/20/trump-says-he-got-covid-booster-shot-tells-fans-not-to-boo-him.htmlwww.npr.org/2021/12/06/1057344561/anti-vaccine-activists-political-conference-trump-republicans

The Grand Geneva is already sold out for next year's GARY CON... Grrrr... I'm considering not going for 2023. I really wanted to avoid getting the rental car next year and have the convenience of being on site and not have to drive and park each day! On the other hand, I loved Seven Oaks B&B so much and I'd enjoy staying there again. They fed me every day and I hardly had to buy any other food while I was there. And I had a nice Mercedes for a rental car, but didn't really need it much, except to go to the Dungeon Hobby Shop Museum. It's not about the money, it's about not having to trudge up the hill in the wind and rain each time I drive over to the Con!

I'm still trying to decide whether to go to GARY CON next year. I can get a package deal through Expedia including flight, rental car and hotel for a little over $1800 which is pretty good for 5 nights. The hotel is the Cove which I was considering because it has a stove and a fridge and I like to cook my own meals. I wonder if Ernie is running another game?
EDIT: I pinged Ernie and he responded. He is not going to run any games at next year's convention but will be playing in some games, and also before and after the convention he will host games at his house "Dragonlands" which is only a mile and a half from the Grand Geneva.

Even though they backtracked on the "vax" crap, I wish I could go again but not going to happen. My friend down the block got destroyed lost all his assets so I'm counting my blessings. (still waiting for my computer data recovery situation.)
