We were just talking about the supernatural experience. Here is a weird thing just happened. I was talking to my daughter about my friend who blew his head off with a shotgun years ago. This was going on for 20 or so minutes as I'm driving her to work. A body double walked right in back of the car same look and same walk. Totally unnerving.

I have had several experiences that fall into this bucket, and that will still freak me out when I think about them. When I was a young teenager, I was walking through the woods by my house. It was the middle of the day, and everything was fine, and then all of a sudden I was standing in front of this tree and it seemed like everything got silent, and I was overwhelmed by a sense of dread and I felt it was this tree and something in the ground at the base of the tree. And it freaked me out and I ran out of the woods and home. When I was a teenager one of my friends moved. Shortly after he moved he started telling me that he thought his house was haunted. We were both horror fanatics and I didn't really believe him. It wasn't long before I was going to spend the night. We were sitting in the living room watching TV, and out of nowhere from the dining room, connected to the living room by an archway, we hear what sounds like footsteps. We could see into the dining room and there was nothing there. The steps walked through the dining room, through the kitchen, and down the steps to the basemen. And once in my younger 20s, I was yanked out of a deep sleep by what felt like somebody grabbing my ankle. I looked down and saw a translucent, human shaped outline standing next to my bed. As soon as I looked it started to fade away and was gone in a few seconds. At the time I remember thinking, 'tomorrow my mind is going to try to convince me that was just a dream, but I know that really just happened'.

The explanations for stuff like this wouldn't even make sense if it was totally plausible. There is also a comfort in letting it settle. The weird feeling of the tree, if not a corpse calling from the grave, perhaps poison like radiation or something organic like fungus? Did the feeling leave immediately? Ghost sound explanations sound good on paper but experiencing it is a different story. The night paralysis thing I think they come after me when I'm available...

I know what the mind is capable of doing, so who knows for sure, I just remember how it felt in the moment. I was still a bit freaked out after I got out of he woods, but the dread was gone.
The footsteps is the strangest one, because it wasn't just me. The two of us heard the same thing.
Rational brain says a dream, nothing like that happened before or since, but that's what I told myself would happen.

When I was fourteen my Grandma died and shortly thereafter -- days or weeks later -- I woke up and thought I saw an image of her face in front of me. As I became totally awake it was no longer there. Even at the time I wasn't freaked out as I dismissed it as a dream when I wasn't completely awake yet. If it was supernatural, the ghost of Grandma checking in on me isn't scary, but kind of reassuring if true.

My grandmother had died shortly before that happened to me too, and I did think of that at the time.

The only thing that I had with a dead person was a dream when I was 14 with a distant sort of unrelated relative being missing at his house. I was only at their home once to play with his son and was later banned because I came too early on a weekend. Apparently, he died unexpectedly in the night that I had this random dream. I've never told the entire dream because it was too pubescent weird. But now? Who gives a shit? Fuck these people! The wife, who dressed nicely, was flirting with me in the dream and that is why I kept asking where her husband was.

Well that family is completely estranged was why I was so shrill. Later claims were wild regarding the widow that bordered on fiction lending a sense of the ultra weird hinting witchcraft. Cursing the mother-in-law at the funeral and almost immediately passing away. Heh, you can't make this stuff up. At the time, I was half believing it

I forgot to mention that I routinely predict celebrity deaths. There are 2 recent examples randomly started singing "I Like Beer" (singer dead a week later) started randomly talking about the Everly Brothers 2 separate times in the last three months and not a follower at all (Last brother dies). My kids want me to write down the name whenever I get a weird feeling about celebrities.

If it is supernatural, what do you think is the mechanism at work? God beaming random knowledge into your head? Gene's worthless super power. Or, maybe not so worthless...
"Linda Hamilton! Come with me, if you want to live!" "Why?" "Gene Weigel just randomly brought up a 'Beauty and the Beast' episode with you in it that he hasn't thought about since 1990!"

It's some kind of random source somewhere. I'm kind of leaning on a brownie whispering in my ear at night but I'll take an enlarged gland from eating too many pork rinds...

Alright, here is a fresh case of this unexplained coincidence phenomena. July 26th, 2021 was 6 weeks ago. We went to Universal Studios (for the 1,000,000th time) and the last time we went we waited in line for food. Then I saw the "Today Show Cafe" was empty. So I'm waiting for them to come back from the bathroom with my youngest daughter. She starts mildly ranting 'Why would they make a restaurant out of this insane show?' then I'm like, "well I used to watch it years ago, it was different." She continued 'I can't see why anyone would want to watch that." I'm like, "It wasn't like it is today." Then I recall out of nowhere all the Willard Scott madness. Then I say to her there was this guy on there named Willard Scott who made the show. She asks me "Is he still alive?" I said I don't know. So I look him up and its a picture of him as the first Ronald McDonald. I just read today that he died.
