I'll help but I don't want to take it over creatively maybe I'll just be a super editor for your material prompting for more. Did you mention these details somewhere before? Or am I cracking up?

It's pretty much written. I was looking for somebody to help with the 5E content.

The contest rules were that it had to be 5E, and you had to run it at Gary Con. I have some experience with 5E, but not enough to competently write this up by the due date or run it as a con game.

Okay, yeah, I took your meaning the wrong way. I honestly wouldn't be much help with that. Sorry.

That's OK. I've pretty much given up on getting it submitted, which is why I posted.

So, what happens in the adventure? The party goes to the Village of Fort Ogin to get the key, and then what? They get ambushed by priests of Incabulos?

Start You have spent the previous several days traveling the Malachite Road, having ridden west from the port city of Monmurg. Ahead the Village of Fort Ogin is coming into view. Just as you start feeling it is safe to relax, you hear a scream. And then another. Yelling. The sounds of combat coming from the village. The Situation in the Village The party will be entering the village from the south. Ahead they will see villagers running, children crying, women screaming, villagers kneeling over the fallen or helping the injured. The majority of the movement will be villagers fleeing from the direction of the center of the village and additional sounds of combat will be heard from that direction. It will take a persuasion or intimidation roll to convince a villager to stop and explain what’s going on. Once the party reaches the center of the village, they will be able to hear sounds of a commotion coming from inside the tavern. A moment later a group of intoxicated bullywugs will emerge, carrying bottles and their weapons. The effects of the alcohol, as well as the easy time they’ve had so far, will mean they do not consider the PCs a threat initially. If any of the bullywugs are captured and charmed, intimidated, etc. into talking they will reveal they have come from the ruined temple in the marsh. They, and the lizard men were recently hired by a human to help with the raid. After the fight with the bullywugs ends, the party will be approached by Goodman Erood Eshen, the Village Elder. Goodman Eshen will explain the Fort Ogin was attacked at dawn by a mix of frog men and lizard looking creatures. The rampaging invaders slew many of the villagers as they tore through Fort Ogin. They killed and ate most people they encountered, but they carried off Finnius to the west toward the ruins of an old temple. If asked, Goodman will say, “Old Finnius always wore a skull headed key on a chain around his neck.”
Finnius Cionn, is no mere merchant. In his younger days he was an adventurer and he is a member of Order of the Warded Grimoire.
If Finnius’s home is searched there will be signs of a fight. A large number of dead invaders, with sword wounds, will be discovered. Smell of chemical, broken glass. Clues to his past will be found under a secret board in floor, journal, helpful items.

Trail of attackers obvious, easy to track back to Temple. On the way to the Temple the party will encounter a mad hermit and his animal companion and several dead bullywugs. The hermit ambushed some stragglers and is removing their legs as he considers bullywug legs a delicacy. The hermit is a former adventurer wizard/sorcerer and the animal is his familiar. The hermit was part of a party that explored the ruins long ago, only survivor, cursed. Forgot most of past and insane The familiar should act in a way that gives clues that the hermit needs help. If the temple is mentioned in front of him the hermit will mutter a few clues about recent new activity. A secret area. The hermit has a wand of wonder that he will use to defend himself, or give to the party if he is cured.
Bullywugs and lizard men guards at outer temple. Lizard men are in the pool surrounding the temple mount. Bullywugs in the ruins. The Temple Ruins A narrow path branches off the track you’ve been following and heads north towards the hill the temple was built upon. The path disappears into marsh water after only 20’. The temple mount appears to be surrounded by water. Black stone pillars, many of them broken, rise out of the water like a forest of dead tree trunks and stumps. About 100’ across the water, at the base of the hill, stone steps rise out of the water and climb 20’ to the top of the mound. A ruined stone structure is at the base of the hill 50’ west of the steps. A similar structure is on the edge of the slope just east of the steps.
The earth mound the temple was built upon is surrounded by water. Its sides rise steeply out of the water to a height of 20’ Lizard men guard the temple exterior At the temple the party will see efforts have been made to efface the temple’s statues: The faces of prominent statues have been removed, alter smashed, etc. but what’s left will make it obvious that the place was evil. Bullywugs are in the temple Dead, burnt bodies close to area that has signs recent fire. These are cultists who set off a trap, and have now been made into zombies. They will rise and attack anybody that starts investigating the wall where the secret door is.
Cultists and cult fanatic. Cultists are diseased.
Disease Con save DC 15 or be poisoned, cannot be cured until disease is cured, lose 10 points a day.
The party arrives as the cleric is in the process of summoning a hydrodaemon to steal Finn’s memories. After opening the secret door the party will be attacked by the cleric’s guards. When the party enters they will be rushed by the cleric’s guards. Beyond they will see the cleric chanting wildly with two bound captives at his sides: a young girl and Finnius. After a few rounds the gate will open and the hydrodaemon will step through. The cleric will offer the girl as payment. The daemon will sloppily devour the girl if the party doesn’t intervene fast enough. If allowed to continue the hydrodaemon will then steal Finnius’s memories and give them to the cleric.

Nice. It has a real swords & sorcery flavor. Bullywugs always remind me of the D&D cartoon from the 80's!

This is the integration of the GaryCon starter for the contest. Wow, thats why it was familiar. I am fried. I have my head so deep in the Temple of Elemental Evil, working on the adventure add-ons, that I'm starting to feel like a protagonist in a Lovecraft story...

So is anyone submitting an event? According to Luke, nearly all of the spots are filled up since they've received so many submissions by DMs to run events.
Of the only two cons I am interested in, GaryCon is completely virtual and NecronomiCon has been postponed to August 2022.

I'm still crunching out the add on for T1-4 it's really all this house buying crap that has me running in circles lately. It's a doozy though. Lots of new monsters mixed with classics and Greyhawkiana. Hopefully done before GaryCon.

I still need to submit my events, but I plan to run at least three, and I suppose I need to track down the seminar folks to see if we’re doing one again this year or not.... I finally submitted my two Castle Greyhawk events last weekend: - tabletop.events/conventions/gary-con-xiii/schedule/980- tabletop.events/conventions/gary-con-xiii/schedule/981I'll also be DMing one of the rounds in Paul Stormberg's tourney ("Into the City of Brass" this year, I think), and helping close out the Greyhawk tracks in the Sunday night panel. In terms of playing, I'm planning to try to register for some of these: - Unhallowed Halls - Fri night - Death Master Gambit - Saturday afternoon - Dream of Oudvarr (ASSH) or Bill Silvey's Sunless Sea - both Saturday night Allan.

I'm going to try to get into one of your Castle Greyhawk events, Allan. I think registration for the Ethereal Badge begins March 17th. I'm really looking forward to this virtual con. I had a great time last year!

A few notes here...
From what I can tell registration for Ethereal Badges begins at 8 PM CDT (9 PM EST), March 17th, 2021.
It looks like Paul is running a few CHAINMAIL battle scenarios as well. I've always wanted to play straight up CHAINMAIL as well as the "Siege of Bodenburg" game. It looks like Paul has been getting into a lot of the early tabletop rules and games which preceded D&D, and it would be awesome to play with those rules and see what they felt like for the early gamers. Paul is also a good DM for D&D.
I did not see any events hosted by the Gygax sisters or Darlene. These are things to look out for in future "live" GaryCons. I have noticed in the past the Gygax sisters will DM games and there are often slots still open when the events hosted by Ernie and Luke are full. Also, they tend be events with fewer players (six as opposed to 12). Darlene usually teaches people how to play her JASMINE card game, which is great, but I'd also like to compliment her personally on how much her art has meant to me over the years.
Any other events with old school artists and designers would be cool.
Jon Hook's scenario looks a bit silly, but I can attest he is an excellent GM as I've played with him in the past in CALL OF CTHULHU and SWORDS & WIZARDRY games and recommend any event he hosts.
Jim Ward is running some Metamophosis Alpha and Gamma World events, but all slots are filled. Erol Otus is running some events but all slots are filled. Tim Kask is running some events that still have some slots open. Skip Williams is running an event for 1st edition AD&D that still has some slots open. Tom Wham is running some board game and card game events with slots still open.

I still don't know what I'm doing but I want to do something. Definitely not a "live" thing that needs more planning unless its a live Q&A or something.

I'm ironing out spots in the T1-4 add-on adventure tribute so I'm not sure what day I should drop it for download. Before or during the con.
