My gaming group has played TALISMAN 2nd and 4th edition many times over the years, and we always enjoy it, but last night was a slog. We played TALISMAN: THE CATACLYSM which was an expansion to 4th edition and it had dragons everywhere which sounds cool but in practice was too much. Characters were dying left and right. Dragon tokens were everywhere. There were too many decks to draw from and keep track of. To be fair, I think we screwed up a bit on the dragon rules and placed too many dragon tokens on the board. But still, it was an example of a well balanced game not being improved upon by an expansion. Also, the dragon stuff had a later edition D&D flavor to it which I didn't care for -- example: a 'dragonborn' priestess. I did like the miniatures, and some of them would work well with a regular AD&D game.

Its weird that the concept of conceiving dragon-human hybrids seems like such a waste. We should discuss.
