Sorry, I made a mistake its not the 3rd part of my Elemental Evil add-on adventure its the 3rd map of the entirety but its part 2B (and that is a clue as to what its a tribute to.).

Damn it! I wrote a post and it disappeared, so you’re getting the crapped down version. Too much (all) of the post Gygax Greyhawk material didn’t get Gary. It’s way too epic. Every book redrew the map, everything revolved around big name NPCs, Gary’s humanocentric vibe got kicked to the curb. I’d be happy to see a good adventure that was set in Greyhawk, that felt Greyhawk without going overboard. A short, standalone adventure with a pulp feel in a humanocentric setting. Every tavern shouldn’t look like the Mos Eisley Cantana: The drow bartender hands the drink to the tiefling wench who delivers it to the mysterious hooded dragonborn in the corner.

It sounds like there weren't any major Greyhawk announcements at GaryCon (or minor ones, for that matter ). Allan.

I was upset when the 2E Valley of the Mage supplement came out, in which the Mage had a drow girlfriend wearing sunglasses.

Thankfully I missed that one. Mike Mearls of WotC was in the official D&D podcast last month and did a Greyhawk segment. I was really impressed. He gig seem to get it, what made Greyhawk different from other settings.

I watched that video. He actually seemed interested in bringing Greyhawk back circa 1980-83. That would suit me fine. By the way, the ‘80 Folio Gazetteer and the ‘83 boxed set are now available as PDFs at DM’s Guild. The Folio Gazetteer is also available Print on Demand. I bought the POD just for the sake of having a “new” book for a change.

Some preview "flip thru" videos are up on YT now. The area map for Saltmarsh is simply a color updating (redrawn) of the original one from U2 Danger at Dunwater, and includes all the major Greyhawk features - the Azure Sea, the Dreadwood and the Hool Marshes. It even includes the original hexes, which in U2 were coded to specific WoG hexes. The text further mentions at least the Kingdom of Keoland. In a further twist, the've also placed the Tower of Zenopus from the Sample Dungeon in the original (Holmes) Basic Set across the river mouth from Saltmarsh, and there are four paragraphs setting it up as an adventure locale to be designed by the DM. It's the first time the Tower of Zenopus has been given an official Greyhawk location! My thoughts on this are here: The Tower of Zenopus in Ghosts of Saltmarsh

I just looked at a flip through video and its like "THE FLY" with the U Series fused with 5th Edition craphole standards in a rerelease hardcover.
