"The law prohibits anyone other than the Board, a manufacturer, the holder of a sacramental wine license..."
Uh, can someone tell me what I have to do to get a sacramental wine license? That sounds... convenient.
I just had this image of Jesus getting arrested during the Prohibition era, led out of a bar mitzvah in handcuffs...

I had a hard time digesting this whole paragraph (dcs's quote about the law), but... I've heard that in the state of Washington the SALE of absinthe is illegal while the simple ownership of absinthe is legal

It's all quite weird, and ultimately hard to enforce... when's the last time you heard about an "absinthe bust"? At any rate...

I think it's as legal to distill and own absinthe as it is any other liquor. It is the sale that is the problem; and I believe it is a federal law, not a State law. From reading about the PA laws, there is a fine of $25 for importing liquor across State lines (if they catch you). As far as absinthe is concerned, federal customs agents will confiscate it if they believe it is for consumption (it is legal to buy and sell absinthe for "collectible" reasons). There you have it. This should not be construed as legal advice. GT, is there any reason I should want to drink absinthe instead of, say, Chartreuse?

Simply to say you have, lad! "That which does not kill us...", and all of that. I don't indulge in Everclear (any more), but I am glad to have tried it. Besides, Chartreuse doen't give you weird dreams (generally...) ^__^
