Do the illusionist's gestures need to be viewable by the target creature/creatures in order for the hypnotism spell to affect the targets, or is the audible droning incantation enough to affect the targets?
In other words, if an illusionist casts this spell while under darkness, invisibility, or hidden by some other means, can the hypnotism spell affect the target creature? If the target creature has no vision, can it be hypnotized? If an invisible spell caster uses hypnotism on targets, is it considered an attack that breaks the caster's invisibility?

I don't think so considering the way its worded as the spell is cast then the suggestion is given.

I don't think so considering the way its worded as the spell is cast then the suggestion is given. That's interesting - an invisible illusionist can be quite dangerous by hypnotizing adversaries and then planting a hazardous suggestion (especially if the hypnotism and a subsequent suggestion is not considered an attack which makes the illusionist spell caster become visible upon casting hypnotism or follow-on suggestion)....
