Location #23 cottage and small barn: the somewhat reclusive farmer, his spinster daughter, and son, are not very successful at farming but they are excellent fishers, trappers, and hunters. The villagers are not particularly fond of them due to their lack of faith, so they are excluded from most village functions.
The spinster daughter is still in her twenties, and is handsome, but bossy. She is also equivalent to an unarmored first level fighter, armed with a sling and dagger.
In a previous campaign I DM'ed, the spinster daughter joined the adventuring party and was thereafter courted and wed by a PC ranger or archer, I don't remember exactly? Or maybe I treated her as an archer NPC?
Since she is "handsome", I take it to mean that she is tall, lean, athletic/graceful, and striking in appearance {perhaps intimidating?}, with a strong jaw line.
It sounds like a good opportunity this time around to make her a hunter NPC, who would be willing to guide the party to the moat house, and may even join the party entering into the moat house? If so, I would likely end up playing this NPC with vocal opinions always trying to give direction to various party members, which may end up being good or bad directions at various times, but definitely causing increasingly more agitation if her bossiness is not listened to and heeded - ready to rub it in if party members don't take her directions and consequences follow?
She needs to be heard, and in her mind, should likely be the party leader?
Has she annoyed various VOH peeps, both followers of the Old Faith and also St. Cuthberites, because she is hawkish {opposite of Black Jay?}, agitating for aggressive militant action by the villagers towards Nulb and the temple area, while the villagers are instead content to have outsiders do the dirty work while village leaders are erecting defenses in Hommlet?
What are some ways you role played or engaged with her in your campaigns? Are her father and brother embarrassed by her bossy behavior, and wish she would be content and settle down with a good man and raise a family?
In your campaigns, have you role played VOH town meetings, elder council meetings {bringing the Inn's disused secret room back into service?}, and/or feasts/councils at Rufus and Burne's tower with the PC party's presence, in order to bring to light various VOH religious and other factions, as well as instigating/inspiring the PCs with many competing alternative approaches to choose from preceding on their adventures?
