I haven't been playing anything new new. I was tempted to get BATTLEFRONT but then I knew that I'd be playing it non-stop. I was thinking of fantasy in that vein so I eventually dusted off LORD OF THE RINGS: CONQUEST from 2009. That was the one that had 4 characters Archer, Scout (a D&D thief), Mage and Warrior and depending on the level and alignment (good/evil) the different types would look different you could turn into Trolls/Ents, ride Horses/Wargs/Oliphants, play as heroes including the Balrog and Sauron, and use catapults and ballistae. Its still playable but it ends quickly after two weeks and you end up handicapping your play just to get a little more action.
My daughter mentioned MINECRAFT has an update which features "evil villagers" in a large multi-level forest mansion. Of course, when I checked it wasn't available yet but there was video all over the internet so I figured how they did it and set the game to get the update before it officially came out. I placed a "seed" so that I wouldn't have to search for it which is time consuming. It wasn't bad I set my self up a limited amount of resources in a glass observation deck. They never came out of the mansion but the evil villagers wore darker clothing and had battleaxes. At the upper penthouse there was a spellcasting "Illager" (thats the name) who summon little imp-like demons. I think they should make the next MINECRAFT with this set up in mind.

My video game interest is at an all time low. I occasionally play some STARCRAFT 2, and I've all but lost interest in LORD OF THE RINGS ONLINE. I did pick up THE WITCHER earlier this year (the first one), but didn't get out of the prologue yet. Maybe if I got a new computer and tried a newer, vibrant game, my interest would be rekindled. Not sure. But I lose interest with grind, "go fetch this" type games quickly (i.e., requires time but not actually challenging). I find tactical games to have the most replay value and engagement, so maybe I need a newer war game. HOMEWORLD: DESERTS OF KHARAK maybe? I used to like that series.
What happened to my interest? Why do I have this feeling like I've played everything already? Have I finally outgrown this stuff? Or did I just plain get old?
I still like live, gather around the table gaming... I'm just no longer as interested in the video games.

I think its a quick escape that sets the tone. I agree that WITCHER 3 thing was too involved. I didn't even buy those I had birthday present guilt driving that. I didn't really help my S&S fantasy life. While it did have a lot of content that was interesting the main drive of getting a new romance reminded me of this kid that I used to play with in high school whose main hobbies were D&D and porn. I'm surprised that those HOBBIT films didn't generate any video games at all. What was the deal with that? What hypothetical video games would be interesting? An Elric video game. A Fafhrd and Grey Mouser video game. I'd say a Dying Earth video game but thats a tall order. It'd probably be the ABCD of the WITCHER 3 style but if it had too much action like that game then it would seem out of place. How about a video game based RALPH BAKSHI'S LORD OF THE RINGS where the monsters get a weird rotoscope blur?

Play a DWARF PIG-RIDER or an ELF NINJA and fight against THE CGI OF SAURON! Play the 'Extended Version' with VEGAN RIVENDELL option! Play a HERO like RADAGAST and try to outrun Wargs on your rabbit-drawn sleigh -- on the High Difficulty setting you have to do this while bird-crap is dripping down into your eyes!

On second thought, lets not go to Camelot...

The next vid in my YouTube recommendation was a recent interview with Corey Feldman looking like a wizard from a 1980's low budget fantasy called the DUNGEONS OF FELDMAN...
"Oh no, we just exited the endless STAND BY ME railroad track, barely escaped the fire sprinklers in the GREMLINS mogwai room and... OH NO! Not the "Cave of the Fratellis" from THE GOONIES... Make a saving throw versus diluted Spielbergian schmaltz or be paralyzed for as many rounds as it takes until you leave the theater."

I haven't played a computer game in a long time. I'm not on my Xbox as often as I'd like due to real life time crunch. Battlefront is good.

My last video game addiction was Resident Evil 4, which was awesome! I tried some more video games from time to time afterwards, but nothing was nearly as fun!
