I like the one shot comics idea.

Okay, thanks that will really help. I'm still hammering away at "Broken Castle". In the downtime, I definitely have a lead for the next "troll" segment. Old game input inspired by the wendigo myth and I was calling them "lesser Wendigos" but I'm backing away and reapproaching for an American authentic but D&D harder look. Why do I feel like this troll road will end in the Pacific Ocean... In the quiet of Gene's basement, the LEJENDARY HAWAII folder ominously vibrates on the book shelf.

Let's see if you guys can see these or not: - This first one is very old, drawn around 1987 or 1988 and is titled the Demon Lord Mastiphal. s49.photobucket.com/user/grwelsh/media/demonlord-02.jpg.html?o=51- This next one was the beginning of a portrait of a Santa Claus-like Druid NPC character I had in mind, drawn about 15 years ago, inspired by a rustic Santa Claus decoration/doll my Mom had that looked more like a druid or Odin than the traditional Santa Claus. s49.photobucket.com/user/grwelsh/media/Santa%20Druid.png.html?sort=3&o=0- Here's another one from about 10-15 years ago -- an ugly wizard with a wand and a Type III demon minion: s49.photobucket.com/user/grwelsh/media/Ugly%20wizard%20with%20demon.png.html?filters[user]=12058373&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=0- Sometimes I do studies, or copies of someone else's art, for practice. This one is a study of Roger Raupp's illustration of Little Boy Mountain in the module "Chagmat" from DRAGON magazine issue #63: s49.photobucket.com/user/grwelsh/media/Little%20Boy%20Mountain.png.html?filters[user]=12058373&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=0You'll have to excuse how unfinished they are. Right now, I'm just experimenting with the scanner and Photobucket. P.S. Photobucket is still free, but is thick with ads. I think there is a way for me to copy and paste the image, but I am getting a "Couldn't load plugin." rejection message hovering over the image address, blocking me from selecting and copying it. Maybe I can get around that by using my laptop... Edit: Nope, my laptop which is a work computer, blocks Photobucket completely... So I'm going to have to figure out this plugin. Oh, well, not bad for an evening... At least I got the scanner to work and found out I can still use Photobucket.

That is an interesting style. The hands and the faces seem consistent. Even the wolf pic seems to be of the same flow.
The Raupp image study loses some of the "boy" (the "nose" seems higher) but it does absorb the style of the drawing in its own way which is what the purpose was.
The evil magic-user with the demon seems spot on D&D atmospheric.

Thanks for the feedback. I never had any formal art training, I was just the "kid who could draw" in school. It was mainly comic books and then later D&D stuff. In retrospect, I think I could have done better at following through and finishing projects. Right now, I'm enjoying going through old sketches and notebooks, and some of the old stuff might be worth revisiting or finishing. I got out my pencils, pens and Bristol paper and I feel like drawing again. I'll post some more scans later. I'd like to figure out how to post the images here in a way so you guys don't have to click every single link to see them... That's so annoying.

If its on Photobucket they have links on each image page that automatically cut and paste when you touch them. Its a list to the right of the image. This is the IMG and the IMG thumb of this old OSR spoof that I did back in 2012:

It is a browser issue with Chrome. I got around it by using Explorer, which allowed me to select and copy the image links.

I was aiming for a NEW YORKER type accessible but arcane feel. I was considering a PLAYBOY like format with that "I don't know its the new thing" approach or a Gahan Wilson Cthulhoid thing but it wouldn't serve too well.

Working on more stuff with a new ongoing monster subject although there is a big troll segment coming which is the biggest one yet. Plus I'm trying to do cartoons faster.

I ironed out some universal concepts for all adventures that I'm doing this morning. Now that I'm looking at it I took a break and came back and impressed myself. Hint: it has to do with stat for monsters.
As for deadline, the monster stats are ironed out. Still need cover and back cover finished. I'll tell you right now as it stands this is juicy as hell but encounter areas need to be finalized so as not too windy.
Still moving with toee, blog, and othermaterial

Keep it up Gene. I've started jotting down notes for an adventure series myself. low level. 3 part maybe.

Intro is probably the way to go.
For me, even though there is a waxing spectrum of power in the adventures that I'm doing I'm going with intro for everything just in case. All are based on actual adventures here the players decided to go elsewhere before trying again. The only one that has no real playtest at all is the first of the interlocking series. That is a real "drink your medicine" type adventure and the gut drive for me is that its meant to make an "anti-Occam's razor" point to an undesirable milieux and make it something desirable.

I lost a big day yesterday I was all revved up for art on the new trolls entry then got sucked out to go to the Queens Center Mall 4 days before Christmas. It wasn't presents it was change of clothing for the Christmas show because... now get this... the music teacher didn't know the song in Latin was religious. So they changed the song and now have to redress for the part which has colors referenced. Of course, I don't give a flying fuck if they sang in the nude the most offensive bile lyrics to all peoples with any questions about religion for or against!

The new troll entry is finished entry-wise (4 new American trolls and one new American troll deity) but the art is only in sketch stage.
