I think I am and always will be a D&D maniac so what better way to express that than by letting everyone know? I think I was prompted by TFoster's supplement to just go full charge though so I'd like to give him some credit. I wrote in the foreword of my book that I hoped it would inspire other people who love Gygax-flavored AD&D to share more of their stuff, and apparently I succeeded, which is awesome Everything you've posted so far has been absolutely top-notch and I can't wait to see everything else you've got on deck. It'll be nice if we can get a positive feedback loop established with all of us inspiring each other to keep coming up and sharing with more and better stuff - both from our archives & newly-created.

Thanks. I finalized two big monsters from my module two alternative heavy hitters that who were good enough for play but were too vague for print. What happened the day their existence changed? Who owned this place? Were they once good in another epoch? Who cares? Kill them and take their stuff, you hobos!

I like this guy. He's much more interesting and mythically-appropriate-feeling than D&Dg's Vaprak. I'm assuming it was an intentional decision not to mention Vaprak in the write-up (either to avoid WotC IP or out of a desire not to elevate pedestrian schlock, or both)? I assume they're enemies - that Unt is the older deity and Vaprak has been horning in on his territory (presumably at the behest of some more powerful patron-being).

In the campaign, I don't use Vaprak so thats literally why this guy is around However, if you ever play in my campaigns options are the way. For instance, you can revere Arioch, Elbereth, Crom or even Conan, Elric or Frodo as an adjunct hero of those gods. A temple of Frodo for example would be based on "FRODO LIVES" of course and temple Conan would be doctrines of unascetic wandering amongst powerful women in supernatural trouble! For this troll god, you can hedge in Vaprak but why bother? It all leads to Roger E. Moore's "ELVEN POINT OF VIEW, HALFLING POINT OF VIEW, DWARVEN POINT OF VIEW, TYPE MONKEY NERD'S POINT OF VIEW'S OF POINT OF VIEW'S POINT OF VIEW'S, etc" (DRAGON #s 58-63 FEB-JUL 1982). Jim Ward's nonhuman deities' of DEI&DEM (1980) are treated like a new find by Gary, as if he didn't even see them before printing, two years after they came out in DRAGON #64 (AUG 1982) when discussing placing them in WORLD OF GREYHAWK. They're about as official as Kim Mohan coming off DRAGON to work on fudging in as much magazine material as possible to validate his move from periodicals. Thats the way I really look at it. However... I think if there was a Gary Gygax musical it would be a song: A row of showgirls kicking satiny high heeled legs out of sparkling moon and star covered magic-user robes
DON'T LEAVE IT VAGUE!
BUT LEAVE IT UNCLUTTERED!
KNOCK SPELL THAT DOOR!
BUT DON'T YOU KEEP IT SHUTTERED!
GREYHAWK LEADS TO MOUNTAIN, PLANE AND SHORE
YET THERE IS ONLY ONE FRONT DOOOOOOOOR!
Seriously, I think Gary would pencil in whatever was there in front of him but with the condition that there is plenty of room for everything and more in D&D. That said if a player made a character who utilized Vaprak in my campaign and kept harping on it, as perhaps a demihuman cleric adversary (seems most likely), then I'd probably turned up the background noise and make more deities but at the same time cater to the player's interests by beefing up Vaprak worship as well.

Major burn last night. I did not save the "demon troll" and someone shut down my computer while I was out running an errand. Fortunately I immediately restatted and got the gyst of the extras that I wrote in so it might take a bit longer for the rest. I just noticed that I did not put Secrets of the Greater Troll header for Untorrll but instinctive flubs are usually for the best. One of the next three parts technically is two trolls so...

This is weird but some of the blogger posts that I made were on Google Plus so some people got used to the idea that I was posting it there as well. I wasn't. It was some auto feature doing that. Some kind of sampling it seemed. So I'm just going to start doing that everytime I post by posting it directly there.

The last few days I've been getting sucked into the madness of elemental evil. I'm converting to the religion.

I'm stil plugging away I just did part of the art of one the greater troll entries. Its two separate monsters and don't get your hopes up too high for these two. These are probably the weakest in the troll series and are more color from my campaign than anything "new". However even though the next one is a campaign barnacle like the other two it is not to be trifled with.

I haven't fell off into video game hell, I just was thinking how much direction do I need to go towards?
People always need monsters but magic items tend to get lost in time. Has anybody had problems like that? Where you invent a magic item then forget it exists in a characters possession 20 years down the line?

Yesterday, I colorized an old 80's monster drawing for the next part of the Greater Trolls sequence.

Okay for the double troll type entry the old drawings are jazzed up but still as is and I have to round out the text of the "greater" version but statwise all the gibberish is intelligible. So maybe tomorrow for them.

I just finished the art for "trolls" part V so that'll be coming soon. Well as soon as I get the text polished that is.

Its like the creative process is such that I'm sitting on an entire planet of shit but it all needs to be formatted.
The biggest mess is the SKULLDON DUNGEON.
Everytime that I look at the morasse of layers its like its hypnotic. Thats why the comic book set in Skulldon never happened. The minute I thought about setting it there I got lost in how am I going to explain all this shit?
Once the dungeon is streamlined then I'll start the comic. The comic characters are all there and I've got the gyst of all of them. These are all created for this comic with no campaign characters as comic regulars. Only campaign concepts. I want it so if someone reads it they can relate to something they played without saying it didn't happen that way but I want everything to be authentic as it was. There is no Greyhawk correlation as anything GH related was superficial so the only thing mentioned will be original background when you hear it at all.
Once the first module set in the Swordlands is out its going to be an intro into some of the feel then the comic won't seem so weird. Anyone coming from a 1981 D&D era background will be fine.
You know my friend Taylor has been campaign validating all the blog posts. He says the only thing he doesn't recall is the astral jellyfish scenario but he does recall a similar "stein" but that was actually something else (a magic goblet of timed effects).

Are there any maps of the Swordlands you can put up?

I've got so many but many have D&D module names tagged on. I have to edit them off . The first adventure is going to have a mini-map of the area that leads to Castle Skulldon for a lead in and in the distance will be Blackthrush but that is on the way backburner for now.
