Have you guys been doing anything creative? I'm getting back into miniatures and just ordered 13 new Reaper minis from eBay. I'm not so much a miniatures player, but I enjoy painting them and I appreciate the art work. I've also been casting off Hirst Arts stuff. One of my Quixotic dreams was to build the KEEP ON THE BORDERLANDS. I need to hook up my old scanner to see if it still works so I can scan in drawings, too.

I had bought a bunch of stuff ten years ago to try to make a portion of the Keep (the main gate) but "the Dungeon" has been neglected for so long I think there is a wight living down there. I mean "unliving" down there...
As far as creative, in general, by priority:
PUBLISHING:
1) 2006 campaign Module to publish - all the points are finalized but needs more finalized art more finalized text more finalized maps. The old monsters have been playtested forever. Its all a matter of making this look presentable.
2) Large crazy dungeon started in 2009 for an online magazine that I was going to do but it outgrew that idea now its one of a series of separate but interconnected adventures- needs details/art and cutbacks of some overdeveloped areas. The city for this isn't my old campaign city its the one that I used in the online campaign but that is one of the set which also features a large dungeon from my 90's campaign as a separate adventure.
3) My 1980's campaign dungeon - this ties in to everything above but its in the vicinity of the location of the 2006 campaign module
4) Monster book that integrates the planar material that I did for Rob but I might abandon if I can't get around to finishing the other related monsters
NON-PUBLISHING PROJECTS:
1) Middle Earth Online Fourth Age Supplement for AD&D
2) Temple of Elemental Evil Supplement
As far as painting minis. I was on a roll when Gary was alive but I just rusted shut with the whittled demon and roper projects.

OOps I meant the non-publishing products are for online not "Middle Earth Online".

Never used minis much while playing 1E Greyhawk campaigns...
Not doing any creative work currently, but would enjoy writing some new 1E Greyhawk adventures in the future...

Gene: Are your to be published modules set in Greyhawk? No, its similar to old D&D to be in the zone and different enough to be interesting. Its all in the same "world" with various flags that I did in the 80s (honestly? Some of the names take some getting used to.) but its just placeholders for the adventures.

I like the idea of putting together a Fax-like sandbox, but haven't really started putting anything together.

Yesterday sort of reminded me of DONT HUG ME IM SCARED (the first one:http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9C_HReR_McQ ) "Green is not a creative color!" I was thinking about cutting room floor campaign material of yesterday then I came upon this one jotted in a high school notebook 1982-1986. This was something that was a religion based on a monster that I created I think its inspired by what I had expected to be in an issue of STAR WARSfrom starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars_63:_The_Mind_Spider at first I'm looking at it and I'm thinking Fritz Leiber short story from one of those flip over sci fi books that I read when trapped at the country house. So I find the synopsis for that and its a post read whereas I read MIND SPIDER because of my creation of a mind spider creature in response to being disappointed with the STAR WARS story's namesake (it was sedentary immobile creature that looked like a wasp nest) so what happened to the "Mind Spider cult"? I left it behind because it was too unofficial when everyone was dropping off the D&D wagon. So what the hell was it? A run in with a creature thats attack was an illusion and you believe youre trapped then it coccoons everyone while they think they are trapped its pretty straightforward: Freq: vr # app: 1 Ac 8 Hd 1-2 Dmg 1 Sa illusion of being trapped MR 20 Xp 60 So how did this become a religion? Well, it was from my dad being highly religious and a violent maniac that i had a special niche in my D&D campaigns for weird cults that werent even something comparable from DEITIES & DEMIGODS (1980). Just pointless religions run by evil assholes like the James Earl Jones Thulsa Doom cult. The Mind Spider cult started as a dungeon room with me recycling the original mind spider encounter into a "bunch of em" this time. Then I was like man, this some weak sauce then i looked at the Eclavdra "enchantress" miniature from Grenadier's 1980 gold line( 8002 Monsters Action Art) with spider in her hand and was thinking of them being weapons and their being a devil akin to Tiamat to dragons. The deity was originally the Mind Spider but over the years I saw a Spelljammer concept from the games/tsr comics where there a race called Neogi and the had ships called mind spiders. So i changed the deity's name from Dungwa Dym the Mind Spider to Dungwa Dym the Mind Horror divorcing the original creature altogether. At the time I thought was a good idea but now it seemed like thats the reason ol' Dungwa Dym lost his verve.

I like the mind spider idea. So characters who fail to save would be standing in place, acting like they are constrained inside webs, as the spider approaches?

Yes, essentially its a really weak creature that attacks but not when you think it does sometimes being perceived as stronger or larger. I think it was a simplifying of a psionic creature in addition to the reaction of the STAR WARS issue (I just dug it out. It was already a disappointment because it promised Vader vs Luke last issue saying: WE DARE YOU NOT TO BUY THE NEXT ISSUE! David (Michelinie script/plot), Walter (Simonson Layout/Plot), Tom (Palmer Finish/color) and Jim (Salicrup Editor? or Shooter Editor in chief?) I think they inadvertantly created my monster by giving me such a shitty scam promise that these toilet peper SW comics were going to get interesting! The Mind Spider deity was later added into another monster's pantheon of deities as kind of a "Oh, these bastards worship that thing as well?" kind of thing but then it got carried away over time.

Oops, Vader turns out to be a holographic projection who acts completely unVader-like.

I did some illos on the god and the monster but I still have to iron out the text of the old stats.
So expect that next up on the blog: Dungwa Dym the Mind Horror and the Mind Spider.

I just looked at the blog post on my phone and the image reverses sides and pushes the text. I also noticed that the arranging of the content feels wobblier when doing the layout.

Good, solid stuff, Gene! I mentioned a couple weeks ago how I think the game needs more low-powered psionic creatures (with psionic strength scores under 100) and mind spiders feel like a good candidate for that. I think when I add these to my game I'm going to give them a psi strength of 30 with attack mode D and defense mode H.

Thats what they were originally, broadly anyway, but I went with no psi as a default just to make it more easy.

Oops I just corrected a word reading DUNGWA DYM's entry with a fresh view. I wrote "Clerics often where jewelry.." DOH!!!
I think the creative process has to have a cool off period but "I ain't got time for that!"
This deity I left out a major aspect of his followers. There is a group of recurring evil bastards who follow DD and others like it but thats one of the interconnected adventures which will include a seriously not very mundane facet of his cults.
DD is also part of two pantheons/mythos in the campaign but I thought not to include it as its way too busy and brings too many questions.
