With.all this talk of drow, and 5E, and Out of the Abyss, I impulse bought Archmage. I think it was the kickoff product for the Rage of Demons storyline WotC was doing. Haven't started it yet.

The newest Drizz't book? I read the "Icewind Dale" trilogy and the "Dark Elf" trilogy back in the day which I enjoyed -- they were good, not great. But somewhere after that they started to feel repetitive, and I sort of drifted off, and I've lost track of Driz'zt since he became, essentially, a franchise. I thought Salvatore was a good writer of action, but I didn't always care for his fantasy style: one of Drizz't's swords is named 'Twinkle' and there was a dwarf general named 'Dagnabbit.'
It looks like WotC is trying to do a lot of "epic storylines" with a lot of campaign hardbacks set in Forgotten Realms. But I'm really not to familiar with them, other than one is supposedly a homage to Temple of Elemental Evil, with four elemental factions causing trouble, but also being at odds.
