Well, that just made me do a double cringe.
Years ago I saw on HBO REAL SEX (2002) they had these people who act out a horse fantasy and there was milder version shown MY STRANGE ADDICTION (2014). I think the bronie thing is an offshoot of that with furry but what the hell do I know.
Well, listen to what Rob Kuntz always said. LISTEN TO THE MARKET!

Save vs. cringe.
Pittsburgh has a huge furry convention every year. Ready to come down here for a LARP furry/D&D crossover adventure?!?
Can you imagine that? You show up for what you think is a classic D&D game, and someone says, "Here's your dog costume."

My daughter and her friends are obsessed with watching Youtube cringe videos of which bronies are a subclass. They saw a "drow person" on a video the other day and imagine having to explain that.

On a postive note, I've looked at some of THE ONE RING RPG materials and thought it was well done, aesthetically and rules-wise. What I thought was most promising was that the rules-mechanics seemed tailored to the setting. They are a good fit. Contrast that with the MERP system of critical hits and non-heroic results ("you break your leg while slipping on a rock crossing the river"). So, the strength of TOR seems to be that its rules are specifically crafted to evoke the Tolkien world and sensibilities. So, I'm curious to see how they adapt that to 5e D&D. It seems like a real challenge, but I'll keep an open mind. It does make perfect sense to try to release a D&D-compatible supplement, because I can't imagine such a niche RPG surviving on its own, no matter how well made.

I mentioned the pony thing to my daughter and she said "Clopsexuals?"
I almost choked.
