You know if you think about it maybe there would have never been a Wild Coast supplement. There was a city on the Wild Coast that was going to be a Gygax-ized version of what would later be "shat out" as the Living City. From POLYHEDRON #26 (NOV 1985):
What "town" do you think this was going to be?
Elredd?
Population:
Elredd (8,400), Fax (6,700), Badwall (5,200), Safeton (4,600), Narwell (2,900)
If thsts the case then "Jepton" (READ: Safeton) might have been available.

Here is the Wild Coast compared to a rendition that I did to make it more Greyhawk remniscent:

Yeah, I had forgotten that one too. Where is Shookville? In the Pomarj?

Other than the stuff in the linked thread (the write-up of Jepton/Safeton) do we know anything more about what Rob had planned for this? Anything about any of those locations on the maps? Otherwise it seems all there is really to be done with this is to use it as a source of names for villages and minor geographical features on a "zoomed-in" map of the area between Hardby (Stone Hold) and just north of Fax - and area of about 200 x 250 miles (just about the right size for an 8.5 x 11 sheet of hex-paper at 5 miles per hex).

Rob was talking with me and if I recall correctly GT, Scott and someone named "Joseph Selby" ( ) about making adventures. The BC product was supposed to have the Eagle Fort Ruins adventure and City of Jepton. The shit hit the fan when Rob was going around saying he needs something "finished" to show to Kenzer for Hackmaster and that was the last straw in the Barbarous Coast. The consensus from my perspective was he was going to hand off whatever we did to somebody at Kenzer and have it "CITY OF BRASSed". At least that is what I expected and the CITY OF BRASS product confirmed that they "nerd-lerized" Kuntz's own material. So that is why I was in no rush to hand over anything.

The above was around 2002 and SIR ROBILAR'S CITY OF BRASS was 2003.
The BC was really going to be our take on Greyhawk so it was really mood killing once the whole thing imploded.
I later forgave Rob's inability to get his act together and tried again with him but it was the same where he wanted something to hand off to a publisher aqain and thats not what we originally talked about. We originally talked about developing ideas and every time the idea session had to wait.

Oh yes, this was a promising project, and the PPP collapse was a major buzzkill. I'm still hoping to see some more projects from Rob. I'm generally a fan of his stuff.

<<Heh, I'm laughing because I always misspell "barbarian" or "barbarous" to resemble some in-law's surname. The mind is an incredible place! >> I think a "Greyhawk fan land" would probably be a good idea to have as a shared Greyhawk project but it would have to have heavy rules as to what exactly is developed as shared ideas. After that group module disaster that I went through in the mid-2000's (It started on my forum then went to several other forums) when everyone was changing all my ideas into boring drivel instead of doing what they were supposed to be doing and coming up with their own adventure areas. 1) Designated co-development areas where suggestions are furthered 2) Proprietary areas that remain under the control of the maker. 3) Heavy research areas that are based on actual Gygax D&D material

I've got some notes and ideas on the town of Narwell, thinking that if I ever run another AD&D campaign I'll probably start it there (since it's a nice mid-sized town with a convenient central location near lots of other interesting places and published adventure locales and benefits from not having (at least that I could locate) much pre-existing "canon" that I'd have to be concerned about incorporating or rejecting).
My vision is that the main industry of the town is timber that gets shipped to the coast but that it's also got a hot-springs that makes it a resort for rich tourists (the "well" of the name) and is also the terminus of the trade road through the Gnarley Forest (the other end of the same road that Hommlett's on). To go with the resort I added a casino (likely affiliated with the church of Norebo) and a significant underworld presence - a cartel of smugglers possibly in league with both the Elemental Evil cultists to the west and the Pomarj slavers to the south as well as assorted con-men, grifters, and blackmailers surrounding the casino. There was going to be some tension between the traditional timber-industry folks, the tourist-oriented hot springs & casino folks, and the recent influx of refugees from the south as the situation there deteriorates.
I also pictured some underground tunnels connected to the hot-springs that have recently become occupied by a tribe of xvarts looking for some relic connected to their god Raxivort that would be a convenient 1st-level adventuring locale before either getting embroiled in all the factional stuff or getting into hot water with the local crime bosses and having to quickly flee to a more remote locale (i.e. another adventure location - most likely Hommlett).
None of this has actually been written up or mapped - I don't want to bother doing that kind of work unless and until I had firm plans to run it - but these are most of the ideas I've had floating around and would be happy to plug into a fan-development project if no one else already has any better ideas for that area.

The Wild Coast might seem like a good idea because the notion that anything goes seams inherent in the concept, the nearness to Greyhawk and Hommlet, and it probably was the vaguest entry. Is there anything else with that kind of appeal?
Bandit Kingdoms?

Some areas that have promise: Combined Bandit Kingdoms/Shield Landa. Sunndi/Iron League. Blackmoor Ratick Bissel Sterich

I've started many campaigns around Narwell. Based on St. Cuthbert's entry in the guide, I've given his followers a strong presence there.

I just dug through my files and I think every town was hit due to boating. The map for Safeton that I did is around somewhere but I'll really have to dig for that. I remember it was a new cult in town that turned out fo be Cthulhu (of course!)

I always thought how cool it was that players could travel from Greyhawk to Blacmoor and a different DM would takeover. Especially locally, so the DMs can get some playing time in too.

It was more like starting as a mystery like an unfolding one with red herrings (its really a demon lord with evil mermaids was a bogus trail that I fulilled separately with no connection. ) The typical sea slavers (galleys, etc)were being worked around and patsies for the huge losses of usually safe townspeople the climax was they failed and Cthulhu arrived ignorex them and decided to head North to assault Greyhawk. About 5 or 6 players in 1984, some were all fucked up. I have a record of it somewhere
