I just got this today, and I'm going to start reading it tonight. All I know is that it is supposed to be somewhat Lovecraftian and is inspired by Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein." Since I am a fan of Lovecraft and the original Frankenstein novel, and because I enjoyed DOCTOR SLEEP last year, I thought I'd give this a try.
This one is only 403 pages.
I think it is promising that King has regained his ability to write novels under 500 pages long.

Well, the premise sounds interesting. Heh, I was recently watching a 2009 FAMILY GUY episode that the kids put on (WARNING: that show is not really for kids) and it was three adaptations of Stephen King's books to movies: THE BODY/ STAND BY ME (1982 DIFFERENT SEASONS anthology;1986 movie), MISERY/MISERY (1987 novel;1990 movie) and RITA HAYWORTH AND THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION/ THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION (1982 DIFFERENT SEASONS anthology;1994 movie) In it King is hit by a car and causes the car accident in MISERY and comes up with a novel before he hits the ground. I think that back in the 80's there were a lot of Stephen King readers playing D&D. We were flicking through Netflix the other night and it looks like there is an adaptation of GRAMMA a 1984 magazine story (WEIRDBOOK) the following year reprinted in the SKELETON CREW anthology (1985) and adapted in a 1985 episode of the THE NEW TWILIGHT ZONE reboot television show (1985-1989). Its called MERCY (2014). I didn't get around to watching it but here is the trailer: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLoRVEFQGaAThe short story had a Lovecraft theme but it was really weak as far as Lovecraft formula as I recall. It says mixed reviews but it looks better than those Stuart Gordon movies.

Yes, life has been wrecking my gaming schedule too. I work Sundays now, and there's always something going on with the kids.
