The STAR WARS section of THE DUNGEON downstairs has been reduced to the categories "Personal" then "Relics". ( My cousin Bill used to be the last remnant of the STAR WARS catalysts in my life but as you probably know from me saying about playing with the old team I can't get excited about people on that part of my family anymore. They're too problematic to say the least!) I have the STARLOG references there from the 90's, a few JEDI era things that you see when a movie comes out "collectors" etc. but I threw out a lot of Darth Vader statues and mugs. I still have a lot of figures that I picked up but I can't even look at SW stuff in the stores anymore. Iused to have a shelf of STAR TREK stuff but I don't recall how much. I still have all the action figures in a container although their weapons locker was lost in 1989. Its originals and reissues. I had every playset and vehicle except the DEATH STAR, the SANDCRAWLER set & RC vehicle and CREATURE CANTINA however I tossed everything but the figures in 1989 because I had no room in my apartment. I still think the best toy was the imperial hovercraft that didn't appear in the movies but was in an issue of the comics.
What it all comes down to the fondness of it all, you have to go to the core which is Chewbacca. That was the thing you saw on the TV commercial that made you say "What the hell is that thing?!? and peak all interest was that "THING". The protector animal of ESB/ROTJ's Chewbacca subtracts damaginly from the violent creepiness of the SW Chewbacca. The first Chewbacca was a raging and greedy guy with fur and then they neutered him to fit the sensational media exposure. It was first in the Christmas Special obviously but even if you missed that its so obvious that too much has happened in between films. The interactions with Solo are not the same. Blame it all on Brain Daley, DAMMIT!!!
