Troll Lord continues to amaze me with their awful layout and editing. I’m reading the LA Quick Start Rules and in parts it’s just painful, the adventure especially. After this long you think they might have made serious progress in these areas, but it is not so.

I'm sorry to hear that, because I like their attitude better than a lot of the other new companies. Unfortunately, that amateur attitude seems to carry over into their editing. Did you get the East Mark Gazetteer yet?

Not yet. I'll post some comments when I do.

Sadly, I've been out of the loop of gaming for a couple of months--Scott's and Gene's boards being my main contact; so I've not seen any of these newer products yet (although several friends who went to Gen Con commented on 4E... ^__^

Once you figure out the editing errors, the material ends up being good stuff. The poor editing and layout takes some of the enjoyment out of reading their products. Rather than a smooth flowing read, you get a jigsaw puzzle.

To be fair, I have to say the most recent TLG product I've bought was excellent. I've read through it a few times and haven't found any glaring errors.

I think that Quick Start thingy is old. They have been making progess, but they need to keep it up. Steve has posted his thoughts on some of the problems they've had with editing and such (pros vs. volunteers and the fact that pros are not necessarily better), but I feel this is the most important issue facing TLG and they must continue to attack and conquer this problem.

That said, Gary gave Steve my name as a proof-reader (because of DJ editing) and Steve e-mailed me back, so I may be "paintin' a target" on my back! ^__^

I can get 'down to business' when I want to, as Gary can tell you... I was sorely crushed for a bit after the whole GDW/ T$R ordeal though (as I believe Mentzer and Newton were, too... ). Gary's amazing: he sprang back within a couple of months while I was bemoaning "all that work!" Aside from the fact he liked the name "McGregtim", I think he put that in the Hall of Many Panes to cheer me up. It worked... ^__^
