Is there anyone here who ever run an LA campaign (not the state) ? ;D
If so, was it better than your AD&D campaigns ?

I haven't run a true campaign as my schedule currently does not allow that; and I would be hard pressed to compare. Overall, my favorite campaign was my MYTHUS-- I know that the players agree on this, as we recently brought it up when a few of us got together. That said, we have very fond memories of the AD&D campaign in the Oerth 1E setting we started in 1979 as well... LA is very nice and concise, but I currently have a tough time rounding up the lads-- we all got married, older and job-ridden! Heh!! ^__^

I didn't run a true campaign; however, durning playtesting I ran a series of adventures using info from the playtest version of the Key Of Sand. One notable thing about LA is the level of power for starting characters. Beginning avatars have a level of ability online with mid-level AD&D characters( around 5th would be my guess ). LA spellcasters are an exception. Since spellcasters roll against their "skill" in the relevant magical discipline all level of spell power are capable of being cast from the beginning. Only spell cost and casting time increase by the order of power of the spell.

I have three campaigns on the go, although one is in hiatus while we play something else, and another is just finding time for each session. The third has been running well for some time. In fact I hope to run a couple more session this December for it. This one has some fairly powerful Avatars in it (IMO).
It is easily the most fun I've had with a system since I started playing.as a little tot in the late 70s.

It's on my list. There's a few AD&D adventures I want to run, and then I plan on taking a break to run some other systems I've been wanting to try.

The one LA campaign that's on hiatus (although I'll do a few sessions soon in between our current campaign sessions) was OAD&D but will be converted to the new Spellcraft & Swordplay.
