Here's another bit for ya... Gary had allowed in the convention modules of the Slave Lords as "official" AD&D, said group implicitly sponsored by the Scarlet Brotherhood. Maybe he had something in mind there... That's a tough one. After all, Gary 'allowed' Q1 to be the climax of the GD series, and we know his thoughts on that one. the SB were definately on his mind though. Besides mentioning that IUz was working against them in ToEE, they played a big part in the Gord series.

Awww; you and Gene are too rough on Dave S.---we all know that Gary gave up on the EEG angle 'cause it was too similar to the "T" series, and he actually liked the "beach towel" pattern at the time! Frankly, I'd much rather have EEG in the basement of the Temple anyhow, than as climax of the GDQ series! (and so I do, though none have made it there!) Gary had "too many irons in the fire" at the time, as they say, so some inconsistencies are to be expected... ^__^

It opens up possibilities, but it takes the fun out of the debate.

Think about it... "Oerth G" (Gygax), "Oerth SG" (Gregg), and "Oerth GT" (Greg)--and then there's the crossover adventures! It could be a yearly convention event! (OK, kidding but only a moderate amount--there is something worthy here...) ^__^

There's something---Iuz the REALLY ancient, by-blow of Orcus, teams up with Iuz the "less ancient", scion of Graz'zt and Iggwilv! Please note: this is not mockery... I'm actually considering throwing this into my campaign!! Imagine Woodstock and Yokon coming across THAT situation! I can actually picture them soiling their garments/armor!!

I like the EEG temple on an island in the nderground sea idea.

I only hope that TSR isn't reading this, and steals the idea and turns it into a module! If we get together, this could be a VERY interesting idea... Awright, Mr. Welsh!!! No reading this!!!! ^__^

Make them different cambions. Iuz the younger, with the help of his mother, imprisoned Iuz the older, and assumed his identity. Maybe there's another Iuz trapped somewhere plotting his revenge against the upstart imposter.

Actually, you can run both the Lolth and the EEG scenario ideas and allow the players to let the "chips fall" as they may... I spent a bit of effort modifying the Q1 scenario (as far as expanding it), so I "lure" my PC's that direction, but either way is valid! If you have enough elves/half-elves in the party then the Lolth route is a great thing, too! ^__^

See! Now, that's the spirit! I only wish we'd come up with this while Gar-Bear was still around... he probably would've gotten quite the kick outta it ^__^

Thats weird in all the kooky dialogues that I with him I learned prior to the Folio publication there was no Horned Society just Iuz in the north and each alternate prime might have its own Iuz or counterpart.
The Iuz history that was supposed to be for the graphic novel that got cancelled was really going to "piss them off".
Talking with Gary was just surreal sometimes.

But I like the EEG in the basement of the ToEE too. Well, there are at least three EEG, right? Why not have one deep down under the Hellfurnaces and one deep under the Gnarley? The third could be somewhere under a malachite mine in the Glorioles! M

There were three depicted in G3 on the wall of the drow temple of the drow gods but it wasn't elaborated on so.... (It was years later in an interview with Gary for a GH fanzine?) Honestly while I've described the EEG cult twice and made it seem they (all 3?) might be there with the altar I've never hinted that there was anything beyond the description of those three in the mural and everything was just "Lolthish" afterwards in the campaign. In the 80's lots of DMs were into drow around me and they had everything Lolthish without any consideration for EEG. I on the other hand didn't have any consideration for Lolth or the EEG! I introduced a separate bunch of drow that had their own subraces, equipment and monster associates. So when I DMed "the drow" they worshipped this new antiLolth/Anti-EEG deity and PCs were usually whatever alignment or Lolth worshippers which made Lolth seem not so bad in comparison. As these guys were creepier, looking back its like the drow as they should have been instead of swapped out heads for a ren faire cut out. Still they persist and I've always used them in games although now i don't even bother with the drow association as they've accumulated their own identity in the subrace half-things that have haunted my tables for many a year...

I have three, but only one is active in the Greyhawk world right now. Gary said they came from a different dimension or some-such, but were banished or imprisoned. Originally, I had 'em trapped in Tarterus, but Gary later said that he "trapped" them on a planet orbiting a distant star. Gary never named them (Paul came up with some long name for one of them, I believe...), but I gave them names derived from the sources that inspired them (Merritt's Khalk'ru, Lovecraft's Cthulhu and Xotli from the Conan stories).
