I had a bunch of guys begging me to run that the year it came out after I had already tossed it in the "never read again" file. So I reapproached it and it was so hard to absorb the plethora of nothingness that I ended up just tossing it again. I later reapproached in a manner like the novel but sort of made it all random with geomorphs and M&T rolls (BTW, it was the Moldvay version of those which I did have the sense to snip the "Tarentellas" ,"geckos", etc. but I did keep the the thouls which actually were sourced from Anderson through Gary to the Moldvay editon. Gary always said my taste was right on if not specifically in some cases.).

How about CASTLE GREYHAWK? Anybody ever tried that?
Its so easy to forget about it but at the time it was like, "Hey, its funny!" and then by the time you digested it all it just felt like you bitchslapped for buying it. Its amazing how no one was ever held accountable for that and you know there had to be a consensused angry reaction otherwise why would they avoid humor in Greyhawk totally afterwards?
Looking back at it it was a pretty huge production to obviously blast the shit out of Gygax if you think about it. It amazes me how for years and years that the apologists of WIlliam's D&D can stick by their guns with this obvious assflap chink in their armor. They dismiss it as having nothing to do with "their brand of D&D" because in their mind 2e soon pressed the "get out of jail free" reset button...but did it? It didn't set any "reset" for me. Its a tribute of resentment by ninnies blasting at a world of fans for the sake of nothing for nothing. A paycheck with no purpose but subtraction of something that was good with crude ridicule for those who subscribed to it.
I should have a road map of all the real putrid insulting dogturd crap that came out back then and have all the designers on a wall of shame.
