One of the more memorable 1E encounters, but my experience is that it's anti-climactic. Sure, she can put a hurting on any LG clerics she hits with her sword, but she’s never been a real threat to the party’s survival. It’s a typical problem with having one big bad guy (or girl). When the party can focus on one opponent they monster generally doesn’t stand a chance, unless the encounter level is way out of whack.

I think Lovecraft was dead on when he said DRACULA had become the "standard modern exploitation of the vampire myth". By the time we had got to TSOJCANTH, we had already fought Howard's Akivasha (or a similiar knock off) several times in the various campaigns. So Drelnza was like "been there - done that" for most everybody. So it was like "not another chick vampire/medusa/succubus/trick!" Should of had the xeg-yi and xag-ya integrated into her brassiere...

The illustration is one of my favorites, but could you make the fact that she was a vampire any more obvious?
Poor Drelnza, maybe I’ll have her survive next time and come back on her dragon mount that Gary wrote about in the Slayers Guide.

Well, you could just do a play on the nexus and have it start from there i.e that it was an alternate Drelnza, etc.. That might be a good premise, or perhaps say that once her obligation to guard the demonicon was fulfilled (even though she failed) she was "released" somehow to "live" again.

I can't see it. I think a filter on my work computer may be preventing the file from displaying. I'll have to check it out when I get home.

Yeah, everybody I know has that "I'll get home to see it" thing going on these days. Sheesh , I just recalled the insanity of my last job but that wasn't a generalization about the institution that was more of a specific person who was spying on what I was doing all the time. I should have had a tattoo reading "born to be a squeaky clean pro" and saved them all some trouble!

Shit, speaking of that I just read about "operation sentinel" is going to track every vehicle's license going into Manhattan soon and have radiation detectors in place as well... Why do I have a feeling that custom Google billboard signs are next?
