I got hammered last night with the boys while watching the CLOVERFIELD DVD and promised those guys that I'd see IRON MAN with them on Sunday because they're going to some Kentucky Derby thing today. Dammit! Now I want to see it today!

As a long time Iron Man reader, I'd say Robert John Downey, Jr. nailed Tony Stark, and I was skeptical when I head he had the role. It takes a while to see the Iron Man you're expecting, and that's probably the biggest downer, but it is not slow at all. And at the end of the (very long) closing credits, there's a little teaser.
I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll wait 'til somebody else has seen it.

I'm glad to hear a positive review. This gets my hopes up for an Avengers movie in the future... I know there's a sequel/new angle on the Incredible Hulk coming out, and I heard rumours of Captain America, Mighty Thor and even Ant-Man movies! I'd love to see some guest appearances in these movies, as a nod to the "shared universe" that was prevalent in Stan Lee's stories of the early 60's! You know, like Spider-Man trying to join the Fantastic Four, or Ben Grimm stopping by to borrow some sugar from Jarvis, that sort of thing.

Iron Man was the first film by Marvel Studios. I've read that they want to make the films more Marvel Universe going forward.

I'm glad Stan Lee is still alive to see these characters get onto the big screen. This decade is like a another "Marvel Age." I'm pretty excited about the new Incredible Hulk film. I was always a fan of the comic and the TV show. I think Ed Norton is going to fix the franchise... and I think we will see an Iron Man vs. Hulk fight on film in the near future, maybe in the Avengers movie.

It's what I imagined the Hulk would look like, but he still comes off looking cartoony.

In the new movie, I read they are making him smaller (never gets bigger than nine feet tall), darker green and mixing prosthetic props with the CGI to give him more weight.

Have you seen the trailer? He still looks cartoony. I'm not sure you could make it look better without going way overboard on price and time.

But it does look a bit better than the first one, doesn't it? ^__^ I read both DC and Marvel back in the day, but I was more of a DC fan--due mostly to Green Lantern and Flash. They both(along with Quality and Fawcett) set the benchmarks that today's independents have to reach...

It looks better, but the look was the least of the last Hulk film's problems.

Oh yeah, it was cool...I just seen it and that secret ending. Most everybody started waiting then the majority left.
Did you note the music instrumental in the casino? It was to the tune of:
Tony Stark makes you feel... He's a cool exec with a heart of steel...
This movie was true in spirit and had the balls to deliver exactly the same feeling you got reading the first ten issues of Iron Man in TALES OF SUSPENSE with almost exact delivery but modernized to Afghanistan instead of Vietnam.
The tie-in thing has definitely made this film hard to beat as a new concept in film. But even without it I just liked everybody involved. Bridges was great.

Damn this movie got me revved at the end! What the hell did that mean anyway? You know as an aside, I'd like to say they should really give Stan a bigger part in these movies. They should have him do the narration of the Watcher or similiar but appear as a Rod Serling type character. That would be too cool. The reason I say that is if you recall his narration of the 80's kid's cartoon Spiderman and his Amazing Friends, it lent such an atmosphere to the childish stories that still made them classics. A big budget effects film with a Stan Lee narration would be huge. His appearance in MALLRATS is what made that entire movie work because he's such a fantastic personality in real life. So having him as himself lent credence to the otherwise ludicrous goings on in the film because he is so "amazing" in his candor.

Okay, I know Gene is finicky old Marvel Comics fan like myself, and if this movie was awful he'd be the first to say it. Another buddy of mine told me the other day it was the truest to the source material he'd ever seen (as pertains to comic book movies). I gotta go see this. Ain't gonna happen with the wife. Think I'm gonna have to fly solo on this one.

Make sure you stay after every single credit rolls for the added ending.

OK, it looks like I may actually go to the theater to see this and Indiana Jones.
Haven't been there in 5 or 6 years - home theater doncha know.
'Course, I'll probably have to go it alone as my wife and daughter don't care for these movies.
Perhaps I could hire an escort - it's boring being the only one in a limo!! LOL!.
;D

Ah, the joys of brothers! I'll likely be going to see both Iron Man with my sibling, though my wife's a big Indiana Jones fan.
I was a Marvel Comics fan, too ~ Spiderman, Thor, Conan, Avengers and Captain America. DC always seemed a little lame to me.

It looks better, but the look was the least of the last Hulk film's problems. Almost makes you miss the series with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno, doesn't it? I mean, the effects weren't great but at least the Hulk looked REAL.
