I am very optimistic. I've never been let down by a Gygaxian/Kuntzian published adventure before, why should I now?

OK, you guys have restored my faith. I'm going to trust in Gary and Rob's judgment and abilities and not worry that Castle Zagyg won't live up to my expectations. Now all I wish was that we didn't have to wait until at least part 3 (Upper Works - Castle Ruins) and possibly until part 4 (Beneath the Ground) to actually start seeing the dungeon itself. Given both Gary's health-mandated light work schedule and TLG's chronically slipping release dates, these could easily be a full year or more away. But I suppose if we've managed to wait this long, we can keep waiting for another year...

Heh!! It could be worse... the wait between Hommlet and The Temple of Elemental Evil, for example! ^__^

Do note: WOTC owns the rights to the names of the released nine deities, so they cannot technically be included; although a reference to said incident could be included in a room description... ^__^

Isn't that what EGG did for the Gord novels?

I have very strong reasons to believe that The Nine, as such, won't actually be in the dungeons, but a reference to the room and incidents will be there so a DM may re-enact it if they choose. Frankly, many DM's will be operating in a "current" version of Greyhawk where the deities are already loosed; also--exactly how many characters could handle loosing nine deities? The newer players would probably try to stay and combat them (foolish!!). Most grognards would have a good idea as to what was going on already. I think that I would prefer this room to be an "optional encounter". Aside from avoiding the "trademark" issues, I don't know that Gary/Rob will touch that can of worms directly. BUT--Who knows...?? ^__^

I'm pretty sure they mentioned that they would be "resetting" the dungeons completely, but I could be mistaken.
As far as "exactly how many characters could handle loosing nine deities"--it's not *supposed* to be handleable! I'm sorry, but to me that has got to be the coolest possible scene in the history of the game. The PCs facing the statue-prisons of nine gods. The choice is theirs...
What's the alternative? The PCs enter an empty room with a sign saying "Sir Robilar was here." How lame and Realmsy can you get, man? Seriously.
As an aside: I did have Lord Robilar come into my campaign at one point. Level 4 of the ToEE is just so boring, I didn't want to have my players fighting ogres for 14 more hours, I wanted to get to the meat. Besides which, the party was already getting too powerful, they didn't need more junk to beef them up. Anyway, when the party arrived at the Temple grounds one day, they found the famous front doors torn off their hinges. They went to the tower to take the tunnel down to level 3, and inside the tower they found Quij (an old friend/enemy of the party from B2 in my campaign) in his poncho. On the 4th level, they saw signs of Robilar's havoc everywhere, but they were too chicken to confront him. The next time they returned, Robilar was already gone, having conveniently gotten bored right before the interesting stuff. ;-) Regards.

Ya know; it might not be a bad idea to drop by Gary's site and leave him notes of encouragement and what you'd like to see... He generally gets back atcha in due time. Not to say "pester" him, but I put in my two coppers already! (...and I still like my Perrenland conquest timeline better, Scott! BLEHHH!! ^__^)

I just checked with EGG. He does not have a functioning web site at the moment, so it would have to be his list, or an e-mail. Scott
