This week I bought and read THE SHOWERS by Dylan Sindelar. I first came across this as narrated by Otis Jiry on YouTube titled "The Showers" originally posted on the nosleep reddit in 2012. Dylan Sindelar wrote the original story which had two parts in 2012, and in early 2018 he continued the story by posting additional parts on the same nosleep reddit, making the whole thing now about the size of a novella (146 pages). Then he got it published as a book in late 2018 with all of the parts combined. Since I liked the original story so much, I was excited to read the expanded story. Even though I could read the additional parts for free online, I wanted to support the author by buying the book. The original story felt so well balanced and complete that a sequel seemed unnecessary and unfortunately, I don't think the expanded parts in 2018 are as good as the original from 2012. I'm not the sort of reader who needs everything explained, but the additional parts feel like more of the same without adding much new to the horror. Sometimes an author figuratively captures lightning in a bottle with a perfect story, and then when they try to tinker with or add to it they end up not improving on it or are not sure where to go from there.

I just read parts 1 & 2 here: creepypasta.fandom.com/wiki/The_ShowersNot bad there were some grammatical (rewrite didn't match?) and glib (Too fast and furious) parts that threw me off but it was interesting enough to finish.
