I got around to seeing this. No spoilers it wasn't bad but they curbed back the Spidey so much that it seemed kind of like they had to really emulate the comic character to divorce Secret Wars, Spiderman and New York. It almost reminds you of Venom at the time of the 1994 Maximum Carnage video game (I had it on Sega Genesis).
I also thought it was entertaining enough but weird that Spider-man wasn't in it or even mentioned. I had low expectations and so I ended up liking it more than I thought I would, mostly due to Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams giving good enough performances to keep it moving along. It had an odd tone, like it wasn't sure what identity it wanted: Cartoony and humorous? Horror? A buddy action movie? .

That Hardy guy is alright, he really got into this part and made his own. From the perspective of the movie it almost makes Parker seem like an asshole if Brock was this likeable. Its weird that, Spidey as a character, would have a totally different outlook on this villain probably relating to his work at first which is weird. I wonder if they'll follow up the easter egg in the beginning with my fave character... Don't say it!
