I've always enjoyed a good haunted house tale...
What are your favorite haunted houses from literature?
I was just now thinking about the House of Usher, and also recently the Overlook Hotel...
What are some other recommended favorites?

What are some other recommended favorites? I like "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Brontë, "The Turn of the Screw" by Henry James, "The Shunned House" by H. P. Lovecraft and "The Hungry House" by Robert Bloch. THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE (1959) by Shirley Jackson tops many people's lists, but I haven't read that one yet. It is being adapted for a series by Netflix.

HELL HOUSE by Richard Matheson is another good one.

Dreams in the Witch House (1933) reminds me of when I lived in a spooky house.
Offhand, I've read quite a few short stories with ghosts but nothing comes to mind.

I’ve recently read both “The Haunting of Hill House” by Shirley Jackson & “Hell House” by Richard Mathewson...both were great...in a quote by Stephen King regarding “Hell House”, he mentions it as the scariest haunted house book...I can see why..
