Joramy is generally a benevolent goddess who watches out for the welfare of her worshippers. However, at any perceived slight she is liable to fly into a destructive rage, leaving fiery ruin behind her. This state is usually reserved for those who are active foes of herself or her worshippers. She is said to have helped forge the artifact known as Queen Ehlissa’s Marvelous Nightingale with Xagy, who was purportedly an ancestor of Zagyg or perhaps the Mad Arch-Mage himself.
Joramy wears a form-fitting, fire-resistant shift colored in swaths of reds, oranges and yellows that gives her a magic aura of protection equal to A.C. 1, and with her fluid grace and speed of flame this gives her an A.C. of -6. She is impervious to fire and heat attacks, but is susceptible to cold, water and ice attacks (+1 to damage/die if she fails to save). She is able to summon a long sword of “solidified magma” that inflicts 1 – 12 points of damage with +3 for strength, and does additional damage as a flametongue sword (q.v.). If she is in the vicinity of any volcano with an active magma chamber (which she usually is…), she may cause it to erupt within 1 turn of concentration. Likewise, she may quell an eruption in progress after 2 turns of concentration. She may only affect one active volcano at a time, however, and the power is useable 3 times each day. She is able to call down a 48-point flamestrike up to six times each day. Once each day, she may summon a16 HD magma para-elemental. Three times each day, she is able to cast symbol of discord, which affects all within viewing distance.
Joramy appears as an attractive young woman with brown eyes and wavy, reddish-orange hair. When angry or affecting a volcano her hair rises above her head like a flame and her form and the area around her is enveloped in fire; her eyes glowing white. Any approaching within ten feet or less of her at this time will take 6 – 36 points of fire/heat damage unless resistant to such, and all items on such personages or striking Joramy that are subject to heat damage must make saving throws.
Joramy’s clerics wear orange robes and her temples tend to be built of basalt with obsidian accents. Her clerics save at +1 vs. fire attacks at levels 1 – 4, and save at +2 at levels 5 and up; and once they gain flamestrike, they add +2 points/level of the cleric casting the spell for damage. These advantages cost the clerics a 5% experience point addition. She is mostly worshipped in the area of the Hellfurnaces, but she does have a temple in Greyhawk City. Although she has a palace of solid basalt, pumice and various-colored obsidian surrounded by a lake of lava on the para-elemental plane of magma, she much prefers interacting upon the prime material plane of Oerth. She was likely originally a goddess of the Oeridians, although she was known in Flan lands before the eastward migrations.
