Anybody interested in trying out Roll20? Nothing long term. Maybe a few sessions of white box OD&D.

Yeah, been a while. But I'm ready to give it a go. Keeping it simple to start. OD&D, white box only. I'd like to get at least 4 guinea pigs.

I am going to try to keep this close to the original expectations for how the game would be played. Definitely not the party for life style that later became the norm. PCs may have to rely on each other initially, but as soon as somebody feels like hiring some mercs or henchmen and going it alone, that's fine by me. I'll make time. I may record some sessions and add some commentary. Due to my real life schedule, there won't be a set schedule.

I'd like to try running a test game this Sunday night. About an hour long or so. Big Steelers game that day, so probably will start after that, around 8 PM EST. Anybody interested?

I am. Hopefully we'll be celebrating a high scoring upset. No matter how well they're rated, the Steelers defense never matches up well against Brady... But on the other hand, we have an offense this year!

And Brady's favorite target area is where we're weakest at the moment. Bad game for Shazier to be out.

Gary, roll up a character and send me the info. You can go straight White Box and roll 3d6 in order, you can roll 6 sets of 3d6 in order and pick the one you want, or you can use something more AD&D, since we may evolve there, 4d6, drop lowest, arrange as desired. Gold is 3d6 X 10.

The campaign is going to start with the players arriving at Greyhawk from the Wild Coast. You’ll need money for lodging, so don’t blow everything on fancy equipment.

Good idea. Ask Mark. Last time we were playing around with Roll20, Mark got on and created an account. He seemed interested in trying an online game.
For my character, yeah no rolls of high con but some of those were very good rolls for 3d6 in order... I guess I have to go with the one that has 18 strength! And be a fighter.

Ran our first session of Roll20 OD&D tonight. It was pretty fun. Still getting used to the interface and the tools, but getting smoother. Still looking for a few more players. After all the rules state from four to 50 players can be handled.

Being able to see each other, talk, roll virtual dice, and especially your ability to sketch out what we see and to use the pogs as miniatures, goes a long way to making the game feel like one of your in-person games. I had fun.
SUMMARY OF PLAY: Toreus and Rollo, two lawful fighters, come up from the Wild Coast to the City of Greyhawk seeking adventure. They go to the Green Dragon Inn and buy two beers and ask the barkeep for advice for young adventurers. He advises to hire or work with others. They hire three men-at-arms in chainmail, a linkboy, meet Volgar the fighter and Mirzod the magic-user, and after a round of beer to toast their luck, they agree to meet at Lordsgate at dawn, to explore the dungeons of old Castle Greyhawk. After a night spent in the common room (1 gp each), the party meets at Lordsgate and heads north and then east to the ruins, about 2 miles away. After entering the ruins, and descending the spiral stairs in the keep, they light torch and lantern and enter the dungeon and at a dead end, kill six giant centipedes, and find a scroll and 250 gp and six flasks of oil in a backpack on a recently slain corpse. Toreus fell into a 10' pit and took 3 hp damage. Came upon a portcullis with 10 orcs and cavern beyond... They wanted to charge a toll, but the party ignored them and went a different way. At a guard room killed four orcs wielding axes with 6 sp each. The room had a barrel of spears, 1 keg of beer, 2 tuns of wine, crates with rolls of silk, chest with 1000 sp, and 15 weeks of standard rations. Since Toreus and Rollo were each wounded, the party opted to call it a night and go back to town.
Marching order: Toreus, Rollo, Volgar (first rank), man-at-arms, linkboy, Mirzod (second rank), two men-at-arms (third rank).
Loot from last adventure after silk and wine sold: 225 silver, 7 ep, 97 gp.
