Does anyone know anything about the "new" Gygax novel titled "Infernal Sorceress"? You can pre-order it on Amazon, and the book description is: The legendary "lost" Gary Gygax novel blazes into print for the first time ever, offering a new glimpse at a master fantasist at the peak of his game. The long-awaited Infernal Sorceress marks Gygax's triumphant return to fiction with two new characters, the handsome swordsman Raker and his cunning daggerman Ferret, a duo of rough-and-tumble rogues ready for the intrigues and adventures of a hostile world. Swashbuckling swordplay, hideous monsters, and puzzling mysteries abound in this new tale from a master of sword and sorcery. 160 pages, the authors listed are Gary Gygax and Erik Mona.

Gary mentioned it as an ms that either he or a friend recovered for him that he thought was forever lost after a major computer crash. I think... the details are fuzzy for old Ghul.

Is it set in Greyhawk's World?

This is a fuzzy memory too. I think it was originally a Dangerous Journeys story.

But why would Erik Mona be sharing credit as an author? Isn't he a Hasbro/WotC employee?

He is a piazo, or whoever publishes Dungeon, employee, the same company releasing the other Mythus books.

It was indeed originally a DJ series... but now, who knows?? ^__^

Hopefully it contains some thinly veiled Greyhawk essence. The other DJ novels by Gary were quite entertaining, or so I've heard, having read but one of them myself.

I don't mind Gary's subtle Greyhawk references. I just hope Erik doesn't try to shoehorn anything in there. I don't think he will, but you never know.

Honestly? I haven't even picked up copies of his other DJ novels yet (I never found them anywhere since the day they came out) so I think I can hold off on this collaborative thing for sure! Especially since that ex-WOTC guy is involved. Bleh!

Hmm, I've been meaning to buy this. Amazon does have a better price than Paizo. And then I can pick up another book or movie (or both) to get the free shipping.

I've received my copy and I've read the first five chapters. I'm really enjoying it, so far. I think Gary's fiction-writing ability improved dramatically over the years. This novel seems much more cohesive and better paced than his previous works. It is reminiscent of "Three Musketeers," and "Count of Monte Cristo" perhaps because of the nearly mirror-image European setting (AEropa).
Erik Mona's introduction is appropriately respectful and complimentary. Whatever his different views about Greyhawk are, there's nothing in his introduction that I found offensive.

I thought the same thing while reading the other DJ books.
