He split my forum after I told somebody to get lost. I can't even remember who. Last time I seen him was at Knight and Knaves forum and it was incommunicado but I dont see him there now. He was alright but he had different opinions. Non-strict Gygaxian Opinions!Just kidding! ANYWAY.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BONES, WHATEVER PLANET YOUR ON NOW! ;D

That must've been the Axe Mental thing... it's too bad our ol' group that used to keep things "1E and real" on Dragonsfoot fragmented... ^__^

I relinquished any ties to that site after that whole Zeb "triumph thread" which "vercingetorixed" AD&D through the streets last year. That broke the camels back for me. I wouldn't know if they're still up and running anymore at this point!

Happy Birthday, Falconer. He hasn't logged in for several months, but just in case.

Happy birthday, dude. I wonder what your opinion is on all this Zagyg business.

Yep, Happy B-day to Falconer. When I saw him in June, he was planning to move from William's Bay to the north or northwest suburbs of Chicago. I assume if he made the move, he's busy getting established and such. Hopefully, he'll pop in sometime and give us an update.

Lol, I found it. It's in the 'Post Something' thread, but I don't know how it got there.

Thanks guys I just got an email from Falconer a few days ago---I pinged him out of the blue. It sounds like he is in fact back in Chicago-land, and hasn't been online much due to dealing with family issues.

Thanks guys. The bday was good (two weekends ago): I got some fun books (CAS, Neil Gaiman), a new Porcupine Tree CD, the Indiana Jones 4 DVD set, and some other stuff.
Would still be nice to see Philip around more, though!

Hello! Thanks for the birthday wishes! I moved to Chicago then immediately spent a few months back in California to take care of my mother who got suddenly ill. Now she's gone so I'm back in Chicago.
Yes... what does Falconer think about the Zagyg thingy? I've only just heard, and I'm trying to make sense of it all. Good God, you guys. Will the insanity never end? I've been online in this whole community for quite a few years now, and Castle Greyhawk has always been the Holy Grail; but like the movie, which grail will it be. Will it be overseen by Gary before his death; will it be overseen by someone else after his death? Will it be published by Kenzer, will it be published by Troll Lords? Will it be 3e or LA or something 1e-compatible, and JUST HOW 1e COMPATIBLE IS IT? Will it be written by Kuntz, will it be written by an unknown? Will it be the REAL castle? Will it be boxed sets, or hardcovers, or hand-scribbled loose-leaf sheets?
I'm so tired of being jerked around. I'm scared, pissed off, whatever. Who knows? Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. Maybe Gail is cutting a great deal and Hasbro will release The Complete Gary Gygax Memorial TSR D&D/AD&D/World of Greyhawk Masterwork Collection with Bonus Unedited Complete Home Notes and Maps of the Real True Castle Greyhawk.
But, I'm not that naive. All I know is the Gygax/Talanian project--that Gary devoted the last years of his life to and that bore his official stamp of approval--is prematurely cut off and not coming back. And that is just not cool.
I think it's messed up how she has treated the Chenault brothers and Clark. Those guys devoted their careers to publishing Gygax's stuff, and that out of true love and respect for the man and his writings, not because they wanted to ride his fame for $$.
But I *understand* the business sense behind dumping them, on a purely detached level. I do not understand why relations have been severed with Talanian, the only person qualified to see it all through at this point. That's what I think. Regards.

Hey, Falconer, welcome back. Sorry to hear about your mother.
It seems like Gary's legacy is disappointment. It’s marked his career for as long as I’ve been involved with the game. Original climax of GD series removed. Original vision of T1-4 never released. A slew of other planned products never realized. Ousted from TSR, Losing DJ/GDW. And the current issue, having his CZ wishes trampled on.
I’m really turned off by GG. I have no faith in their ability to bring Gary’s ideas to publication and maintain the mojo that made his material “Gygaxian”.

Sympathies to the family, hombre...Just had to bury an old cayoot over here so I'm sorta in that zone as well...After all the ceremoies just feeling drained and regretful of shit (leaving him to his privacy not understanding he was deteriorating mentally or if he was always like that. We used to joke around that he had somebody chained to the wall up in his apartment! Turned out he let the building decay and that was the big secret.) that i probably would've did the same way over again. In regards Gary, we still like him and they can't take that away from us!

The tale of Gary Gygax the brilliant author is, indeed, a sad one, especially at this point. Come January 1st, there will be nothing in-print by him other than the Paizo novels. Well, we can only hope that someday there will be a Howard-esque comeback! Regards.
