I started watching SUPERGIRL, for no particular reason, and I like it. It makes me smile. It brings back optimism and earnestness to the Superman franchise, which the movies have been lacking. I've also noticed that this show as well as THE FLASH embrace the fact that they are superhero shows. None of that "blue blur" business like in SMALLVILLE. They wear the costumes and they fight supervillains that you may recognize as an old comic book reader, like me!
I also think DC is making a terrible mistake in not having a shared universe between their TV shows and movies, the way Marvel does.

I saw it live for the first couple of episodes then it wasn't available for on demand when I missed a few. I think the on demand makes the comic feel work. When you can "binge read" remember those days?
I like the tv flash and I haven't even seen the film Flash beyond the trailer but I'm going to give him a chance. I watched the movie STANFORD PRISON EXPERIMENT and he seemed alright in that.

It was rare that I could binge read comic books as a kid. My parents weren't cheap, but they made me work for each comic book and I never had subscriptions. And comics were only 25 cents per issue when I started getting them! To be fair, my parents had no idea each comic book issue wasn't always a stand alone story, and I don't think I ever told them that... But I had a friend who had an older brother who worked and had all kinds of subscriptions, so when I would go to his house I would binge read like a junkie who needed a fix! That was how I read all of the storylines from the 70's, which honestly, weren't usually very long arcs. Individual issues were much more standalone back then, although often ending on cliffhangers...

My only complaint about the show is how kryptonite is everywhere these days. And that applies not just to this show but to the Superman franchise in general.
"Oh, a Kryptonian, no problem, I know how to deal with those! We have some kryptonite bullets, kryptonite dart guns, a kryptonite lined containment cell, etc."

Honestly? I can't get into shows anymore otherwise I would be watching it. My downtime is usually zero unless I get abducted out of this house which is usually the case.
