I just had a pre-Thanksgiving last weekend and it was miserable with all the pundits. Vomit! This is the first year with invitations popping up yesterday and today last minute like crazy. I usually get downgraded on people's list because of my car full of kids but not this year. Being a nice guy finally paid off!

Alright the Thanksgiving itself was so good. Lots of family goodness. My son is usually good going to school but he wanted this weekend to never end.
It would have been nice to get the whole greater family together for a good time but I think those days have come to an end.
I was an inch close to running a D&D game for Thanksgiving but then I thought that would be too much to swallow.
Heh, my friend came over last week and asked if had a big die for a backgammon set and this led to the question of whats gaming. Then it just hit me. As much as I want to be some kind of "Ghost of D&D Games Past" I'm really just Bob Cratchett thwarted by the virtual Scrooge of D&D gone sour over and over.
Need more games going at least a schedule.
I should have made a documentary about the behind the scenes of all my YouTube videos. The invited lists, the phone calls, the e-mails, and who showed up. Now that was the real story of what was going on in those videos. The original video production was in 2003 and was supposed to be with people off the street and people kept freaking out about being on the internet at the last minute. So no film was ever made. I have photos of the setup of the cameras but the whole thing fell apart at the first game when this person brought their significant other who wasn't onboard for film. Then it kept repeating with different people getting jitters and then it got to the point where they just expected not to film at all.
I should just reboot all this and show how crazy it is getting a game going in NYC with strangers.

I also had a good Thanksgiving with extended family avoiding the usual political digs. I give thanks for that! Just overeating and watching football is fine with me.
Yeah, getting back to it is hard after the long weekend. I woke up this morning thinking I should have told everyone I went hunting. But I shouldn't complain since I can work from home.
I think Scott brought up some D&D podcast idea a while ago, with the idea of recording us playing D&D at the hobby shop of our friend, Eric, in downtown Pittsburgh. At my house I've recorded a few snippets on my iphone at of Eric DMing D&D games, and Ray GMing some Call of Cthulhu games, but it doesn't have enough memory to capture an entire session. I've been a listening to a lot of gameplay sessions/podcasts from Youtube and iTunes, and honestly, I can't recommend any. Searching for a gameplay podcast on my wavelength is like searching for the holy grail. A lot of the ones claiming to be "old school" end up feeling like hipsters trying out what they view as a quaint old system, or they just seem off somehow, in other ways (too dull, too frivolous, bad production, etc.).

There was a family gathering on my wife's side that sounded like the worst possible combination of hot button political issue representatives imaginable. I haven't heard anything but just thinking about it is giving me a headache.
Yeah, it would be good to hear a film that wasn't bullshit. Even my films were too much BS and not enough game. Too much "Bill" with his army shit too.

I hosted Thanksgiving. Small crowd, no hostilities, lots of leftovers. Definitely a success. Prosecco was a yea. Chardonnay was a nay; but I was the exception, I am just not a fan.

You don't even need politics or Thanksgiving for a family meltdown. My wife did a DNA test of her mother a while back. We went to her adult niece's birthday last weekend.
I think they got the maximum (complete?) surprise roll there. Ouch!
