Just started watching the first four episodes. Not bad. I like the blind man in the park the best. He looked familiar. I'll admit watching reminds me of Catholic upbringing especially my dad who literally schizoed over the church. He used to talk about Satan as if he was waiting right around every corner. My family was old school ignorant. If there was a problem then they'd all look hard the other way in the name of family honor. There is no schizophrenic walking around talking about the devil with a small child. We're all better than that. You can't make this shit up. It wasn't until I was a teenager that I realized Dad's mind was not firmly rooted on the Earth. For a freaky example he would say the Devil is outside is in the house and then he would go into an epileptic trance. In regards to the family on the show going to the rundown church, I went to my old, now dilapidated, church in the ruined neighborhood a few years back then my friend (who went to the same church and school) saw my adventure on Facebook and decided to return there and then decided to go on a weekly basis. I had an old Irish priest who claimed to be part of an exorcism and he described it in vivid detail. Of course, it happened "long ago in Africa" and he had no camera available when he saw "the devil smiling back at him"....

Not to give too much away, but the blind man in the park reappears later and turns into one of the more compelling characters.
I need to finish the last three episodes. You can still watch it for free on Fox.com.
I also started reading OUTCAST, the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman (the creator of THE WALKING DEAD). Pretty good so far. It is also about demon possession. I wonder if it prompted the development of THE EXORCIST property into a TV show?

I have two episodes left to watch.
Its weird my father would be raging out over how inauthentic it all is but I'm really enjoying the monstrous alien feel. I'm surprised that they didn't get some of the original cast.
How many EXORCIST things are there:
EXORCIST (1973) EXORCIST II: THE HERETIC (1977) EXORCIST III (1990) EXORCIST THE BEGINNING (2004) DOMINION: PREQUEL TO THE EXORCIST (2005)
Do all these movies interconnect into the show?
I recall my cousin got the EXORCIST II soundtrack and played it to death well until the record broke. The movie I have to rewatch because its a blur.

The show definitely interconnects with the first movie, but I am not sure about the others. The demon Pazuzu is in all of the movies, as well as the TV series. But I'm not sure you'd want them to all interconnect, as some of the movies were pretty bad. One of my favorite things about the TV show is how it interconnects with the original movie. At first I was afraid it was going to be a reboot, but it actually is a sequel.

The approach is very good so far that people would be interested in getting possessed as a way to social climb. Its somewhat sad because I actually know people who would (Even some who aggressively changed their world view to fit in!). The whole church at war thing is downplayed because the church seems in on it at least moreso than the original movie in which they were just reluctant. I also like the fact that its not an advertisement to go to church.
