That's what I was thinking. Yesterday, I had my parents over and we did the Google Hangouts with my sister's family in NC so we could see her kids open the presents, and it worked out pretty good. And it reminded me that gaming could be done this way.
There is a drawing tool function on R20, and if one of us could ever learn to master that, I think that would take care of the miniatures and mapping aspect.
I also tried it and got frustrated with it. It just wasn't very intuitive to learn and I had trouble finding clear instructions anywhere. I had this sense that it would work if I could just find someone to walk me through it and tutor me.

I think the physicality of it is inconvenient with the nuances of life over here. If I had it in the basement somehow it would work but I can't get the wifi signal maybe a temporary direct wire.

Gary, you could write something for my Paladin or magic-user and try it out.

Okay, I'll give it a try.
We had some calls on this earlier in the year. Mark and I had a call just to see if we could log in. Then Gene and I had a call to tinker with the functionality, and Gene seemed to figure it out somewhat.
Maybe there is a decent tutorial on YouTube by now.

Alright somebody snatched all my old network cables. So I tried to set up an old router as a receiver and it didn't happen. Its incompatible. I'm going to see if I could use the downstairs router wi-fi access point but he's gone for the week. I might have to physically move this computer downstairs for a game too because I don't know about that laptop its XP era so it seems okay to read PDFs but I haven't challenged it ever.

I'd be happy to play any of my main PCs again. My bard is a wanderer who will go anywhere. He likes to roam the Wild Coast and he wants to visit the Great Kingdom. My monk wants to get enough experience to level and then find one of the 8th level monks to challenge. My magic-user wants to build a stronghold soon. He wants to find a good staff and spends his downtime looking for stories about wizards who might have had one. My paladin is also close to building a stronghold. Of course he'd be interested in any rumors of a holy avenger. He would like a knighthood and land in Furyondy and is thinking about travelling there and offering his services to some noble. All four are currently in Greyhawk.

I forgot to mention that the other day although I ran ROLL20 on the laptop that I have in the basement....
KABOOM!!!!
It sucked.
The video kept locking up the whole thing. That thing is only good to look at PDFs and play mp3s over the speakers.
On the positive side, I moved the router upstairs for a better signal so whenever I get a better computer down there.
If there was a sure thing session I could haul the desktop up here downstairs.
